Agenda MOWR Program Eligibility GAfutures.org MOWR MOWR Course Directory MOWR Application - Student Process MOWR Application – STARS & SURFER MOWR Users Guide Invoicing Today I will be providing information on the different programs that are a part of HOPE, the Student Access Loan Program and some other state financial aid programs that are available and administered by GSFC.

MOWR Eligibility Students attending a participating public or private high school or home study program located in Georgia 9th grade officially begins Fall term of the 9th grade year Eligibility may not be extended beyond 12th grade year 4 years of eligibility from the year student enters 9th grade Enrollment or graduation plans cannot be adjusted in order to extend MOWR eligibility Eligible to participate through Spring semester of senior year Summer term at the end of senior year is not covered

MOWR Eligibility The dual credit enrollment coursework must be listed on the high school and postsecondary institution transcripts Degree Level dual credit enrollment coursework in core subjects (English, math, social science, science and foreign language) count as academically rigorous Included in the HOPE GPA calculation (effective FY 2017) Dual credit enrollment coursework, in core subjects, grade receives an added 0.5 weight, up to maximum 4.00 grade for initial HOPE/Zell Miller Scholarship eligibility

MOWR Eligibility Students may participate all terms Fall, Spring and Summer semesters Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer quarters Summer is the header term for fiscal year Public high school students complete student participation agreement If student attends more than one eligible postsecondary institution in the same term, the student: May receive the full MOWR tuition, up to the maximum 15 semester or 12 quarter credit hour limit, mandatory fees and book award at each postsecondary institution Must complete a MOWR application for each postsecondary institution of attendance

MOWR Participation Agreements Participating Eligible High Schools, public and private and home study programs complete a MOWR Participation Agreement Participating Eligible Postsecondary Institutions no longer complete a separate MOWR Participation Agreement Beginning with FY 2017 MOWR included in the four (4) year Postsecondary Institutional Participation Agreement for State Programs FY 2016 participated Institutions continue to participate Must submit request if no longer wish to participate

MOWR Application Application GAfutures.org State Scholarship & Grants MOWR Application Procedure and Deadline Dates Three part application (similar to Accel application) Student/Parent completes part A High School/Home Study completes Part B Postsecondary Institution completed Part C     Online version - eligible public and private high school students      Paper version - home study students or students who do not have a valid SSN       

MOWR Awards Tuition Mandatory Fees Public Institutions: standard undergraduate tuition rate up to 15 hours per institution Private Institutions: $250 per semester hour or $187 per quarter hour (up to 15 semester hours and 12 quarter hours per term) or standard tuition whichever is less Mandatory Fees $50.00 per term, semester or quarter

MOWR Awards Books $25 per semester hour up to 15 hours $15 per quarter hour up to 12 hours The postsecondary institution must provide, at no cost to the student, the required book(s) for the enrolled course(s) of the MOWR student Lost or damaged book charge to the student allowed Book cost – book allowance or $75 whichever is less

MOWR Program Definitions Mandatory Fees Means Non-Course Related Fees charged by an Eligible Postsecondary Institution to all students regardless of program of study, enrolled courses, or admission status.  For example, Mandatory Fees may include the following: instructional support and technology fees, application and registration fees, deposits, student activity fees, student accident insurance, health fees, athletic fees, and campus transportation fees. MOWR will provide a $50 award for Mandatory Fees per term. The Eligible Postsecondary Institution cannot charge the student any additional Mandatory Fee costs.

MOWR Program Definitions Course Related Fees or Supplies Means fees or supply items required for participation in a specific course and all students enrolled in the specific course are required to purchase or pay a fee for such items. Course Related Fees or Supplies may include: lab fees, materials, supplies, tools, and equipment.  Course Related Fees or Supplies do not include books. MOWR will not provide for course related fees. The Eligible Postsecondary Institution can charge the student Course Related Fees or Supplies or require the student to have the required course related items.

MOWR Program Definitions Other Fees Optional fees charged to a student based on student's action or choice, such as parking fees, graduation fees, charges or fines such as: parking tickets, library fines, late fees or lost or damaged book charges may be charged to the student. If an Eligible Postsecondary Institution charges a fee to all students then it is considered mandatory
