3 Added Weight for Approved STEM Courses
2016 legislature session passed HB 801 An additional weight of 0.5 will be added to grades of B, C and D for approved Degree level science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) courses in high demand careers in Georgia Effective Fall term 2017 (FY 2018) Courses must be taken at an Eligible Postsecondary Institution Courses must be taken during the approved period of time (between beginning term and ending term) 2017 GASFAA Fall Workshop

Directory on GAfutures.org PDF list on SURFER, User Information section Courses listed by Eligible Postsecondary Institution Search option by term, course title or course number Beginning Term – The first term the course is approved for additional weight at the institution Ending Term – The last term the course is eligible for additional weight 2017 GASFAA Fall Workshop

6 STEM Weighted Course Approval
The STEM Weighted Course Council is responsible for approving all additions, deletions, and changes to the directory which consists of a representative from USG, TCSG, GICA, GSFC, Georgia Department of Economic Development, Governor’s Office of Planning and Budget, and a member of the Georgia General Assembly. Additions, deletions or changes to the STEM Weighted Course Directory is an annual process Institutions submit course information by October 31 to sector representative of the Council STEM Weighted Course Council meets the end of Fall to review requested changes and approve the list for the upcoming academic year effective Fall term Directory updated annually by February 1 The 2018 – 2019 list approval process will be communicated in DCL , to be released early October 2017 GASFAA Fall Workshop
