Prophecy of the OT that Jesus Fulfilled Lesson 2

Exodus

The Great “I AM” Prophecy: Exodus 3:13-15 13 Then Moses said to God, "Behold, I am going to the sons of Israel, and I will say to them, 'The God of your fathers has sent me to you.' Now they may say to me, 'What is His name?' What shall I say to them?" 14 God said to Moses, " I AM WHO I AM"; and He said, "Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, ' I AM has sent me to you.'" 15 God, furthermore, said to Moses, "Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, ' The LORD, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.' This is My name forever, and this is My memorial-name to all generations. Fulfillment: John 8:58 58 Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am."

A Lamb without blemish Prophecy: Exodus 12:5 5'Your lamb shall be an unblemished male a year old; you may take it from the sheep or from the goats. Fulfillment: Hebrews 9:14 14 how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? 1 Peter 1:19 19 but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ.

The blood of the lamb Prophecy: Exodus 12:13 13' The blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you live; and when I see the blood I will pass over you, and no plague will befall you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt. Fulfillment: Romans 5:9 9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him.

Christ is our Passover Prophecy: Exodus 12:21-23 21 Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel and said to them, " Go and take for yourselves lambs according to your families, and slay the Passover lamb. 22 " You shall take a bunch of hyssop and dip it in the blood which is in the basin, and apply some of the blood that is in the basin to the lintel and the two doorposts; and none of you shall go outside the door of his house until morning. 23 "For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when He sees the blood on the lintel and on the two doorposts, the LORD will pass over the door and will not allow the destroyer to come in to your houses to smite you.” Fulfillment: 1 Corinthians 5:7 7 Clean out the old leaven so that you may be a new lump, just as you are in fact unleavened. For Christ our Passover also has been sacrificed.

Not a bone of the Lamb is broken Prophecy: Exodus 12:46 46 "It is to be eaten in a single house; you are not to bring forth any of the flesh outside of the house, nor are you to break any bone of it. Fulfillment: John 19:31-36 36 For these things came to pass to fulfill the Scripture, "NOT A BONE OF HIM SHALL BE BROKEN."

The Spiritual Rock of Israel Prophecy: Exodus 17:6 6 "Behold, I will stand before you there on the rock at Horeb; and you shall strike the rock, and water will come out of it, that the people may drink." And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel. Fulfillment: 1 Corinthians 10:4 4 and all drank the same spiritual drink, for they were drinking from a spiritual rock which followed them; and the rock was Christ.

Leviticus

Sweet smelling aroma Prophecy: Leviticus 1:1-9 9'Its entrails, however, and its legs he shall wash with water. And the priest shall offer up in smoke all of it on the altar for a burnt offering, an offering by fire of a soothing aroma to the LORD. Fulfillment: Ephesians 5:2 2 and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.

Suffering outside the camp Prophecy: Leviticus 16:27 27 "But the bull of the sin offering and the goat of the sin offering, whose blood was brought in to make atonement in the holy place, shall be taken outside the camp, and they shall burn their hides, their flesh, and their refuse in the fire. Fulfillment: Hebrews 13:11-12 11 For the bodies of those animals whose blood is brought into the holy place by the high priest as an offering for sin, are burned outside the camp. 12 Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people through His own blood, suffered outside the gate.

The blood that makes atonement Prophecy: Leviticus 17:11 11'For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood by reason of the life that makes atonement.' Fulfillment: 1 John 1:7 7 but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.

Numbers

Not a bone of the Lamb is broken Prophecy: Numbers 9:12 12'They shall leave none of it until morning, nor break a bone of it; according to all the statute of the Passover they shall observe it. Fulfillment: John 19:31-36 36 For these things came to pass to fulfill the Scripture, "NOT A BONE OF HIM SHALL BE BROKEN."

The serpent on a pole is lifted up Prophecy: Numbers 21:9 9 And Moses made a bronze serpent and set it on the standard; and it came about, that if a serpent bit any man, when he looked to the bronze serpent, he lived. Fulfillment: John 3:14-18 14 "As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up; 15 so that whoever believes will in Him have eternal life.
