1 The simplicity of how to keep a fire burning is this one thing: have a source of fuel that consistently feeds its flame and understands its purpose.

2 Priestly Assignment Leviticus 6(8-13) Then the LORD said to Moses, 9 “Give Aaron and his sons the following instructions regarding the burnt offering. The burnt offering must be left on top of the altar until the next morning, and the fire on the altar must be kept burning all night. 10 In the morning, after the priest on duty has put on his official linen clothing and linen undergarments, he must clean out the ashes of the burnt offering and put them beside the altar. 11 Then he must take off these garments, change back into his regular clothes, and carry the ashes outside the camp to a place that is ceremonially clean. 12 Meanwhile, the fire on the altar must be kept burning; it must never go out. Each morning the priest will add fresh wood to the fire and arrange the burnt offering on it. He will then burn the fat of the peace offerings on it. 13 Remember, the fire must be kept burning on the altar at all times. It must never go out. Burnt offering the whole body of the sacrifice was consumed which signified the complete dedication of those who were making the offering unto God. There was a symbiotic relationship between the fire and the sacrifice that produced the hope in the priest. It signified Israel’s dedication to God, their faith in His willingness to forgive, protect and desire for restored relationship. The result of offering and the fire was a sweet or soothing aroma unto the Lord.

3 New Covenant believers are priests
1Peter 2(4-5 & 9) And coming to Him as to a living stone which has been rejected by men, but is choice and precious in the sight of God, 5 you also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 9 But you are A CHOSEN RACE, A royal PRIESTHOOD, A HOLY NATION, A PEOPLE FOR God’s OWN POSSESSION, so that you may proclaim the Excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. Ex 19(6)''and you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. These are the words that you shall speak to the sons of Israel.”

4 Fire transforms sacrifice into fragrance
Gen 8(21-22)  Then Noah built an altar to the LORD, and took of every clean animal and of every clean bird and offered burnt offerings on the altar. 21 The LORD smelled the soothing aroma; and the LORD said to Himself, “I will never again curse the ground on account of man, for the intent of man’s heart is evil from his youth; and I will never again destroy every living thing, as I have done. Eph 5(1-2)  Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; 2 and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.

5 Whose fire is it? Ex 13(21) The LORD was going before them in a pillar of cloud by day to lead them on the way, and in a pillar of fire by night to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night. 1 Chronicles 7(1-3) Now when Solomon had finished praying, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, and the glory of the LORD filled the house. 2 The priests could not enter into the house of the LORD because the glory of the LORD filled the LORD’S house. 3 All the sons of Israel, seeing the fire come down and the glory of the LORD upon the house, bowed down on the pavement with their faces to the ground, and they worshiped and gave praise to the LORD, saying, “Truly He is good, truly His loving-kindness is everlasting.” Note: I submit to you that this is a foreshadowing of the New Covenant as experienced in the born again experience. John 3(3) 3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born *again or (above) he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Äh-nō-then- from above (5x), top (3x), again (2x), from the first (1x), from the beginning (1x), John 3(31) 31 “He who comes from *above is above all, he who is of the earth is from the earth and speaks of the earth. He who comes from heaven is above all. Point: New Covenant fire is Holy Spirits presence in our lives.

6 New Covenant application of fire of the spirit
and the sacrifice Act 2 (1-3)  When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. 2 And suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a violent rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 And there appeared to them tongues as of fire distributing themselves, and they rested on each one of them. New Testament example- Romans 12 (1) Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.

7 CHRIST our Passover 1 Cor 5 (7-8)
Ex 12 (7 -10) Moreover, they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses in which they eat it. 8 They shall eat the flesh that same night, roasted with fire, and they shall eat it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs. 9 Do not eat any of it raw or boiled at all with water, but rather roasted with fire, both its head and its legs along with its entrails. 10 And, you shall not leave any of it over until morning, but whatever is left of it until morning, you shall burn with fire. deliverance and protection from slavery and the death angel A prophetic perspective: Jesus the Lamb of God said unless you eat my flesh and drink my blood you will have no life in you. 1Cor 5 (7-8) 7 Clean out the old leaven so that you may be a new lump, just as you are in fact unleavened. For Christ our Passover also has been sacrificed. 8 Therefore let us celebrate the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
