What is Title I and How Can I be Involved? Annual Parent Meeting Robin Hill School (08/09/16)

Definition of Title I: Title I provides federal funding to schools to help students who are low achieving or at most risk of falling behind. Title I is allocated to schools based on the percentage of student receiving free/reduced lunch. Schools with a percentage of at least 40% are eligible for a schoolwide program.

Robin Hill operates a Title I Schoolwide Program.

Schoolwide means: The school uses Title I funds to upgrade the entire educational program of the school. Title I funds are used to serve all children in order to raise academic achievement. Title I funds will be used to provide additional assistance to all students who experience difficulties in meeting the State’s performance targets.

To be a “Schoolwide” School: The school must have a free/reduced lunch count of at least 40%. The school must collect and analyze data that effects student achievement. The school must develop a comprehensive site plan and annually review the effectiveness of the plan.

Summary: Robin Hill School utilizes Title I funds to provide a tutor for students that are struggling to meet the rigorous academic standards. The tutor may work with individuals or small groups to ensure they are receiving supplemental instruction to improve their academic understanding.

Focus Goals The goal for Robin Hill School is to improve reading skills of students. We will work to ensure all students are reading on grade level.

Curriculum and Instructional Strategies: Robin Hill will implement the state mandated priority academic student skills with transition to implementation of Oklahoma Academic Standards.

Assessment: We will use a variety of tools for assessment. First, in the spring students will be assessed with the state mandated OCCT reading and math tests. Secondly, we will assess students utilizing the STAR reading assessment. These assessments will be used for progress monitoring and assessment will take place every quarter. Thirdly, other assessments will be used as needed to monitor progress.

Proficiency Levels for 2014 Our goal is to have 90% of our students at the proficient or advanced levels in math and reading.
