Assessment of the contribution of IIT’s: A Scientometrics Analysis Using Publication Output P K Mishra   Indian National Science Academy New Delhi

Scientometrics Analysis Scientometrics is concerned with the analysis of informational dimensions of science, such as Publications Patents Journals Laws of ageing and scatter of scientific information Citation processes, etc.

Application of Scientometrics: Literature searching Assessing the adequacy and coverage of library collections Studying scientific communication Exploring cooperative and social relationships in science Evaluating scientific performance

Need of Study: IIT's have been selected for case study Apex technical education system in India. Most prestigious institutions in India - in terms of Infrastructure Contribution to technical education Major contribution to scientific and technical research.

Objectives Contribution of these institutions to the mainstream literature in different S&T fields Performance and impact of these institutions in different fields of S&T Find co-authored linkages of these institutions Among themselves Others in India Abroad
