It utilizes quantitative analysis and statistics to describe patterns of publications within a given topic, field, institute, or country. Evaluating the performance of each research topic is necessary in order to indicate the impact and contribution of authors and countries in their respective fields. The objective of this study is to conduct a bibliometric analysis of all tuberculosis-related publications in Science Citation Index (SCI) from Methods Documents used in this study were based on the databases of the SCI which was accessed from the ISI Web of Science, Philadelphia, PA, USA. Selected documents included ‘tuberculosis’ as a part of its title, abstract, or keyword. Results Eleven document types were found in the total of 14,523 documents that were published by 149 countries. Nine languages were used to publish articles and English was the dominant language, comprising 96% of articles. The results show an increasing number of papers since 2000 and author numbers indicate a continuous growth of the scientific community. USA has dominated corresponding articles (27%) and followed by United Kingdom (9.5%), India (6.9%), France (5.0%), and Japan (4.4%). SP, single country publications CP, international collaborative publications P: No. of articles Table 2. Publication activity of top ten countries Figure most used author keywords in tuberculosis research Table 1. Ten most productive corresponding institutes Conclusions USA has dominated publication production and followed by UK where the seven major industrial countries (G7) still composed majority of the total production. The 3 most productive corresponding countries were the USA, UK, and India. The Institute Pasteur at France produced most corresponding institute articles. USA has dominated corresponding articles. The USA was the most frequent partner accounting for comprising 18% of the international collaborative publications followed by the UK, and France The most frequently used author keyword in tuberculosis research articles was ‘mycobacterium tuberculosis’ and followed by ‘HIV’, ‘mycobacteria’, ‘epidemiology’, and ‘diagnosis’.
