ANNUAL REPORT AAUW NYS FUNDS Nancy Mion AAUW NYS Development Vice President Good Morning Everyone, I’m Nancy Mion, your Development VP, and this is my annual Report.

Spread the word about the AAUW Fund MAJOR GOAL Spread the word about the AAUW Fund My major goal this year has been to continue to raise member awareness of the AAUW Fund.

As many of you know, contributions made to The AAUW Fund are unrestricted. They can be used to support any Programs that move our Mission forward, funding those that have the greatest opportunity to advance our cause and the greatest need. As you can see from this diagram, all the pieces of the puzzle fit together to create what AAUW is…a major force in empowering women

ACTIONS TAKEN TO RAISE AWARENESS Developed PowerPoint about 20+ programs AAUW Fund supports NCCWSL Contacted Branch Leaders involved with AAUW Funds What have I done to forward this Goal? At the Summer Conference, I presented a PowerPoint I had developed about the 20 plus programs which the AAUW Fund supports, NCCWSL being one of them. You can view it on the NYS website-Maybe you’d like to show it to your branch, I did. Being in touch with branch counterparts, and sharing information about the Funds, fundraising and more, is an essential part of spreading the word. To that end I developed an e-list; I sent 3 e-mailings to all those branch leaders involved in AAUW Funds; Additionally, each individual leader received three emaiings involving only their branch, totaling 114 separate emails sent. Twice I sent regular mail to each leader. One mailing contained “In Memory of” and “In Honor of” cards to acknowledge member gift to special people.

FURTHER ACTIONS Wrote articles for the Focus New Website updated THE AAUW FUND: Programs and Initiatives THE AAUW FUND: Empowering Women in STEM AAUW FUN AND FUNDS AT THE CONVENTION New Website updated District 6 Conference talk AAUW NYC Fellows Recognition Dinner I’ve been writing a series of articles for the Focus discussing various programs, and reinforcing the concept that donating to the AAUW Fund can give these programs the funding that they need. Do check out the updated AAUW Funds webpages on the website. There is nothing like talking in person to motivate people I spoke about the AAUW Fund at the District 6 Conference. Another example is the recent successful AAUW NYC Fellows Recognition Dinner. It was organized by Maria Ellis, ESVB and AAUW NYS It was sponsored by an AAUW NYC Metro Grant. All these activities and more Spreading the word!

SUCCESS 100% Involvement-Every Branch donated to the AAUW Fund One third of total NYS contributions were given to the AAUW Fund I’m so proud of the members of NYS who have understood the need for the AAUW fund and have supported it this year. 100% of the Branches donated to the AAUW Fund - One branch who gave a modest sum last year gave $500 in 2017. Members gave substantial gifts to AAUW Funds and the unrestricted CtC C
