Junior Presentation

Email Students should have a general email address that is appropriate to send to schools / work / etc. Use a free email service if you do not have one.

PSAT PSAT is a practice SAT Offered once a year in October at REV during the school day Sign up in the finance office (NOW) - $16 The PSAT you take as a junior also determines National Merit Finalists

PSAT / SAT / Khan Academy PSAT will also be a diagnostic test for the SAT Students take the PSAT: Create an account on collegeboard.org Create an account on khanacademy.org Link the two accounts. Khan Academy will review your PSAT scores and determine what you need to work on for the SAT Will create an individual study plan for the SAT to get you prepared for the SAT in the Spring This is completely FREE!

SAT Prep Class Any student interested in taking a FREE SAT prep class after school on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:00 to 4:30, please sign up with Ms. Young in the admin office. We will have three six-week sessions of the prep class starting: September 11 October 23 January 16.

Transcripts Verification Make sure ALL your personal information is correct ALL Course are noted on you transcript Summer School, Schools Other than REVHS, etc. All Marks are accurate Refer to “Credit Summary” to see what credits you still need to take Credits Needed should be 120 or less

College By the 4th of July – You should have 3-7 schools you know you want to apply to Includes: probable (certain) possible (good chance) reach (maybe) Schools include: 4 year, 2 year or technical… also be looking into military or work goals! If considering the military think about the ASVAB. Practice ASVAB, SAT, AP online. Get the information to the website in the counseling office.

State Testing in the Spring You will get scores from the state test in May They will look like this on your transcript: Scores 1-4 1 – Not Ready 2 - Not Yet Ready 3 – Conditionally Ready 4 - Ready

Other ways to earn college credit Crafton is offering elective classes for community college credit at REV, CV or RHS. Classes already started for Fall term Classes will again be offered in the Spring – check the REV website for details.

Additional… Living/personal situation – different resources available if your home/personal situation changes. Talk with your counselor Looking to volunteer? Consider the Career Center – they need tutors in all subjects.

College Board also has some great tools for test preparation and college planning: ​SAT Question of the Day - a free app that has the last 30 days of SAT questions, straight to your smart phone. Research information on colleges - the Big Future program allows you to look up schools by location, majors, school size; put in different criteria and see what school fit your interests. SAT and College Application Fee Waivers - contact your counselor or Mrs. Quesada in the Career Center regarding fee waivers. Here are the guidelines for fee waivers. AP Scores - AP scores and resources for AP classes Khan Academy - College Board has partnered with Khan Academy to help students prepare for the SAT.

Research Tools (All are on Counseling page of REV website) NCAA - interested in playing sports in college? Check your eligibility. CaliforniaColleges.edu - a source for college and career planning in California ASVAB - Interested in joining the military? You will need to take the ASVAB test. Find out more information about the test here. Contact the Career Center at REV to see when it will be offered at school. California Career Zone - a career exploration system. It connects users with California occupational options and colleges. Also includes budgeting tools. California Career Resource Network - The California Career Center (CalCC) is your career planning website with tools to help you map your future, whether looking ahead to college, apprenticeship, the military or other options.
