Occupational Therapy Classroom Proposal Presented to the UTFAB February 1, 2011 Dave Carpenter, Director of IT, College of Applied Human Sciences

CAHS Background Very high enrollment college 6 academic departments and 2 schools 3 of the 6 largest undergrad majors at CSU 3 of the 15 largest graduate majors at CSU Enrollment continues to increase, despite caps on the Construction Management and Design and Merchandising programs

High Enrollment Undergrad Majors at CSU Source: CSU 2010-11 Fact Book

High Enrollment Graduate Majors at CSU Source: CSU 2010-11 Fact Book

Occupational Therapy (OT) OT Department is nationally recognized for its excellence; ranked 8th in nation (US News & World Reports) Graduate only program Currently enrolls ~150 students per year Currently in process of increasing enrollment by 25% 7th largest graduate program at CSU High demands on student technology, most of which supported by the CAHS CFT fee OT building is in need of help OT utilizes three primary departmental spaces for much of its instruction and student lab work All three spaces are overdue for technology upgrades

Room 100

Room 101

Room 103

The Problem High quality instructional technology is imperative to the success of the OT students CAHS and OT have some funds to help achieve this goal, but not enough to fund 100% of the project

The Proposal Upgrade the instructional technology in these three rooms to bring them in line with CSU/CAHS/OT standards Smart technology installation has been estimated at $50,096 for the rooms $10,650 for installation, $39,446 for equipment This includes standard smart classroom equipment, such as a projector, lectern, audio, and Blu-Ray (screens are already in the rooms)

The Proposal, cont. If approved, the College would plan on cost-sharing the classroom technology install at 50% Funding would come from a variety of sources, including the CAHS CFT fee and OT departmental funds Proposed impact to the University Technology Fee: $25,048 for three rooms
