Know yourself Self awareness is key Am I introverted or extroverted? How do I give criticism? How do I receive criticism? Think back how did your boss or mentor communicate with you? Was it helpful? Can you improve on that?

Before you pick a mentee How much time can I commit? What did I wish I had when I was a new lawyer? What do I wish I had now? Are there any conflicts with my mentee’s current job?

The mentee (awareness of others) What kind of person is my mentee? ( introverted or extroverted?) What is important to them? Do we have some core differences? Or common ground? What do they expect from me? What is their time commitment? How can I get them to their goals? When you are looking at the list of requirements, what do you need to focus on? What can you do for fun?
