3 A Positive Attitude is Key for Success
Feel Good about yourself and your job search – people notice your confidence. Show a positive attitude – people will want to help you succeed. Control your attitude – Circumstances do not determine your attitude – It’s how you deal with the circumstance that determines your attitude. Focus on the positive – Do you see the cup half full or half empty? Most people like to be around positive people – employers want positive employees.

9 “Next Steps” Begin Lesson with Oragami Folding Activity. (see attached) Give the students about 5 minutes to complete and then ask: 1. How did you feel while working on this activity? 2. Did you get angry, frustrated, or give up? 3. Did you become determined and kept trying? 4. Did you ask someone for help? The way you handle a circumstance or emotion is in your control! Continue with Building your confidence package and Powerpoint . (see attached package - 4 pages). End Lesson with Students Completing Self Esteem Check Up. (see attached) Give them a Self-Esteem Journal to do at home for a week. Ask them to re- evaluate themselves on the Check up after completing the journal for a week. (see attached) Conclude with open discussion on the importance of this lesson as it relates to interviewing skills.
