RESEARCH AND SKILLS PLANNING UPDATE – OCTOBER 2016 REGIONAL SKILLS FORUMS (WSP-ATR Observations)

Purpose of presentation CHIETA, The Catalyst for Enhanced Skills, Economic Growth and Employability Purpose of presentation Reiterate the role of WSP-ATR and the OFO in skills planning and SSP Development To provide stakeholders with feedback on WSP-ATR 2015/2016 data quality issues identified for continuous improvement and capacity building Provide information on new components/enhancements to the system aimed at increasing data accuracy and quality

How it relates to WSP-ATR CHIETA, The Catalyst for Enhanced Skills, Economic Growth and Employability How it relates to WSP-ATR NSDS III requires SETAs to establish a credible institutional mechanism for skills planning, and become an authoritative voice on skills for their sector Core to these requirements is the OFO because it provides a common language for skills planning SETAS required to use OFO in their SSP updates since its inception WSP – ATR important research tools used by CHIETA ( source data information collected – individual employee info from CHIETA companies) OFO used in WSPs-ATRs to talk about occupations Detailed analysis of company data for skills planning for the sector now possible because of common language on occupations and skills needs WSP-ATR→ SSP→ Interventions DATA QUALITY AND ACCURACY IMPORTANT
