THE INDICIUM SYSTEM IS OPENED FOR ALL DISCRETIONARY GRANT FUNDING WINDOWS FROM 30TH JANUARY 2015 PLEASE NOTE: DISCRETIONARY GRANT APPLICATIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED VIA OUR ONLINE APPLICATION SYSTEM, ACCESSIBLE VIA FP&M SETA WEBSITE BY THURSDAY, 30 APRIL 24:00 (MIDNIGHT). PLEASE READ THE FP&M SETA DISCRETIONARY GRANT GUIDELINE DOCUMENT CAREFULLY BEFORE APPLYING Planning the presentation involves much of the work that you’re going to do before you actually deliver the presentation. This is a very important area and its also one that many people should consider improving their skills in. A key part of this planning is to research your presentation audience, since the more you know your audience, the more you can understand them and what their preconceptions might be. You also need to get to grips with the purpose of the presentation – so that you are very clear about what you are trying to achieve from it

4 How to Logon onto the system
To logon to the system go to the FP&M website: and click on the Discretionary Grant Tab – scroll down to the bottom of the page The following screen will appear. Please click on “Stakeholder Registration” as per the screen opposite. The logon screen will open So having got a good idea of your purpose, its important to write that down – so its clear in your mind.  So that whatever you do you are able to refer

5 How to Register as a Stakeholder (Discretionary Grant User)
Click on the DG Stakeholder - Register Please note that there are the following External Profiles: indicate in approval letter which profile must be assigned to you Stakeholder (Capturer which includes all approved stakeholders including SSAs) Stakeholder (view only) This is something that is going to affect your content that you are going to put into the presentation. So its worth spending time trying to analyse your audience before you actually present. Its useful to put together an audience profile – covering the type of people who will be at your presentation. Where are they coming from what level of expertise do they have Are there any decision makers in the audience What is their attitude towards the topic that you are presenting on Do they have any preconceived ideas or expectations about what you will be presenting on etc etc So brainstorm as much as you can about about your audience. Because the more that you can understand about them beforehand the more that you’ll be able to adapt your material to make it relevant to them.

6 How to Register as a Stakeholder (Discretionary Grant User)
If you have previously registered on Indicium the system will check and confirm your current credentials these will still be active i.e. user name and password. Indicium System users will have different profiles but only one Logon credential to access the system e.g. SDF; DG stakeholder or Provider etc. The system will ask if you have a current profile and check your username before moving on to the next step.

7 NB* The Physical Address of the applicant is a compulsory requirement.
For NEW DG stakeholder registrations the personal details form will open up where the users will capture and save their details NB* The Physical Address of the applicant is a compulsory requirement. Please capture all the required information then click on the “Save” button to save captured information. The key message should have a very strong benefit for the audience to listen to you. So one way of identifying it is to brainstorm the main benefits to the audience that come from your presentation.

8 Link an Organisation Please search and select the Organisation using SDL number or “N number created” for you by the SETA on the system Please note if no L number is found when you search then there will be a pop up message “Dear stakeholder, it appears your organisation doesn’t appear on our database. Please contact the regional offices where your project resides for further assistance in creating your organisation.” Eg who on earth knows what NOPF means?

9 Confirmation of Organisation Registration
The following FP&M colleagues have been identified to provide this support in the regions and they will confirm the Organisation number e.g. N Region Name and Surname contact details Gauteng/Limpopo/Mpumalanga/North West Province Tintswalo Makhuvele KZN/Eastern Cape/Freestate Luntu Phillip Western and Northern Cape Elizabeth Goncalves Once you’ve done your planning, you need to consider what visual aids you’re going to be using. Think about what you want to do here – why you actually need the visual aids in your presentation and what are they going to be used for. Often they are fairly redundant – people put them in for the sake of it. So some key presentation skills we’ll be looking at are associated with reducing your slides to the minimum you need to support your message. So we are going to look at how to make visual aids effective and what types of visual aids are going to help you with your presentation.

10 Document to be uploaded
After selecting the Organisation you are required to upload an approval letter that the organisation is authorising you to apply for a DG Grant And ensure that is loaded – see below Gives ownership and promotes buy-in

11 Confirmation of Registration
A confirmation regarding your registration will be sent to you confirming that this was successful and indicate which organisation(s) you linked to your profile You now need to start developing the ideas for the presentation content.  Putting that content into a strong clear structure is very important to help you stay on track and also to help the audience to follow the presentation clearly. Think in terms of THREEs. Beginning Middle End Split your middle section into three sections as well.  In each section have 3 further points you want to make and expand on to reinforce things. And ensure that as you create the content for your presentation you remember:- Your purpose – what you want to achieve from it The key message – what is in it for the audience If you dont have a strong structure, you’ll find that’s when you start to wander off topic, your mind can go blank or you’ll head off at a tangent. And then you lose your audience! Please note the will also be sent out to the respective Regional Manager for approval of the registration.
