WHAT ARE SECTOR EDUCATION & TRAINING AUTHORITIES (SETAs)?
SETAs were set up replace Industry Training Boards
Legislated in the Skills Development Act of 1998 as a SETA, and the SAQA Act of 1995 as an ETQA, (Education Training Quality Assurance Body)
Functions include promoting skills development using levy grant funding received from Employers, issue certificates to competent learnes after due diligence quality assurance processes, register assessors, capacitate the sector to understand its role, incentivise training through Discretionary and Mandatory Grants, inform companies about the tax breaks they can obtain through skills training
