Childhood/ Background Born October 16,1936 in Yablochnoye, Ukraine Born in the middle of a war quite a traumatic childhood Was scared of sexual activity from a young age He failed to get into Moscow Sate University He then become a telephone engineer He struggled with the opposite sex His sister helped him find his wife Which then with that wife he had two kids It was difficult for him to find a job He found a job being a schoolteacher While being at the school there had many complaints of indecent assaults

Extra information Chikatilo has murdered at least 53 people between 1978- 1990(that he has confessed too) He befriended them at train stations and bus stops, before luring them into nearby forest areas, where he would attack them, attempt to rape and kill, by stabbing and mutilating them. First killing he tried to rape his first victim but couldn’t get an erection. Found out that he could only achieve an orgasm through stabbing and slashing people to death.

Evidence Brought Against Criminals Chikatilo came up as a suspect because a police man noticed he was at the crime scene previous to the death of his last victim Chikatilo came out of the woods with red streak on his cheek Later that day a body was found right where he was last seen so the police man made a report on Chikatilo Chikatilo was a suspect because of his previous sexual attacks towards former students He was then placed under surveillance

Evidence Brought Against Criminals Continued While watching surveillance, the police saw a pattern of Chikatilo trying to make conversation with young women and children After six days of surveillance, Chikatilo was then arrested by four police officers leaving a café

Penalties After getting questioned he denied killing anyone until November 29 He admitted to his psychologist that he was responsible for the murders After going through many trials, it was finally decided that Chikatilo would be executed. On January 4, 1994 , Chikatilo was taken to a prison room and executed with a single gunshot behind the right ear.

Theory I believe the theory for the reason Andrei Chikatilo murdered women is the Innovation theory. Andrei always had trouble with the opposite sex as he was growing up. It became even harder when it came time for him to start a relationship or talk to a women. His sister was the one who found his wife, who he had two children with. The innovation theory describes Andrei's motive towards killing, he was not able to talk to women in the real world so he would talk to women he met at his work or around where he lived and raped then killed them. So Andrei could not find real pleasure in women in his cultural, so he had to break the law to achieve his goal. This theory also describes Andrei motive towards killing because of his problem achieving the sexual pleasure. He has trouble achieving sexual pleasure so he turned to rapping women to achieve that. But after his first kill he realized rapping them didn’t give him the sexual pleasure he needed, he needed more than that, so he starts to experiment on the women. He begins to mutilate the women, by ripping body parts off of them with his mouth. His new pleasure was ripping the nipples and the tip of tongues of the women and eat them. This theory shows how Andrei couldn’t find the sexual pleasure in the real culture, so he had to find his own way of getting that pleasure, killing.
