rESEARCH SKILLS FOR HISTORY Throughout the year Primary & Secondary Sources Visual – Timeline, Graph, Table, Chart Citing Sources Document Based Questions

PROCEDURES Agenda will be posted on the screen. Learning Goal Warm-up Warm-up will be completed when the bell rings Daily Agenda is posted on my webpage under “Agenda” tab on the left.

PROCEDURES Each unit has a pretest – students can “test out” of a Learning Goal if mastery is achieved. 90% or a “3” on the scale Alternate, extension assignment is given. Technology: Students are assigned a specific laptop that they will use in class.

TEXTBOOK American History Online textbook and account will be set up in class. http://www.classzone.com

Typically you will not have homework in Social Studies, HOWEVER: Work that is not completed in class will become homework & turned in the next day. Additional research for projects may need to be conducted at home. Studying for assessments will ALWAYS be on the agenda as homework. Review material daily

GRADING POLICY Grading Scale: Assessments: 80% Practice: 20% Some assessments and assignments will be graded using a 4-point scale. 4- Exceeds expectations. Even with help, could only gain a partial or weak understanding of concepts

Living History – San Diego 7th & 8th grade students will have the opportunity to attend this two-day, one-night experience that emphasizes history during the Revolutionary War. Students go back in time and experience what it was like as a seaman living aboard a ship. They role play and will be eating, working and sleeping as they did aboard the “Star of India”. A 3-hour floating oceanography lab will finish the experience. Saturday, November 18 – Sunday, November 19, 2017 Cost: $297.00
