PROCEDURES Each unit has a pretest – students can “test out” of a Learning Goal if mastery is achieved. 90% or a “3” on the scale Alternate, extension assignment is given. Technology: Students are assigned a specific laptop that they will use in class.

Typically you will not have homework in Social Studies, HOWEVER: Work that is not completed in class will become homework & turned in the next day. Additional research for projects may need to be conducted at home. Studying for assessments will ALWAYS be on the agenda as homework. Review material daily
GRADING POLICY Grading Scale: Assessments: 80% Practice: 20% Some assessments and assignments will be graded using a 4-point scale. 4- Exceeds expectations. Extends beyond what was taught 3.5 3- Successfully understood major & minor concepts that were taught 2.5 2- Needs refinement, with support – can understand major & minor concepts 1.5 1- Needs improvement, difficulty understanding what was taught. Even with help, could only gain a partial or weak understanding of concepts

Living History – San Diego 7th & 8th grade students will have the opportunity to attend this two-day, one-night experience that emphasizes history during the Revolutionary War. Students go back in time and experience what it was like as a seaman living aboard a ship. They role play and will be eating, working and sleeping as they did aboard the “Star of India”. A 3-hour floating oceanography lab will finish the experience. Saturday, November 18 – Sunday, November 19, 2017 Cost: $297.00
