Student Placement Middle School teachers will use the ECRA readiness for High School success standards based test to identify honors placement for students in: English Language Arts/Literacy Math/Science Social Studies Case managers will use an Individualized Education Program (IEP) to identify which class students will be placed in for Special Education. If the second number if a 9 on the pink course selection, it is a class that is offered in the special education department. Do not select a course with ****** after the course name unless your son/daughter has an IEP and has been directed by their case manager to select the class. Cheryl to present this page

Math & Science Pairings Ideally Algebra I would be paired with Earth Science Ideally Geometry would be paired with Biology (sophomore year Algebra II is paired with Chemistry) Ideally Geometry would be paired with Biology Advanced Studies (sophomore year Algebra II is paired with Chemistry Advanced Studies)

Rubric for Spanish I Vocabulary study skills and a strong command of English grammar are necessary The student needs to be able to grasp/understand vocabulary, spelling, and sentence structure in English If the student has difficulty grasping English concepts, it is difficult to understand Spanish concepts (the class will require a connection to be made between English and Spanish) Foreign Language is NOT required for HS graduation Cheryl will explain this slide

Recommendation Letters Geneseo High School will mail a letter regarding course recommendations for the 2017-18 school year second semester based on the MS Readiness Assessment and current 8th grade course performance. The recommendations will be in the English, Math, Science and Social Studies. Social Studies If you request a full year of WHH and are not recommended for it, the request will be moved to 1st semester Ancient Civilizations and 2nd semester Western Civilizations Cheryl will explain this slide
