Higher/Int 2 PE Skills and Techniques Lesson 1 Tuesday 2 nd November

Learning Outcomes By the end of this lesson you should all: 1.Know the expectations on you for this block 2.Know how to describe all 5 schedules 3.Be able to state why each schedule is appropriate 4.Identify your strengths and weaknesses 5.Set development needs

Expectations Keep up to date with all classroom work and homework – (in addition to homework, finish at home anything you do not finish in class) Come prepared for every lesson – NAB jotter, pen, kit

NAB You MUST pass this in order to sit the final exam. The NAB is split into 4 parts. You will do parts 1 and 4 as homework. You do parts 2 and 3 under exam conditions in class.

NAB Part 1 Higher – 2 questions (12 marks) Intermediate 2 – 4 questions (14 marks)

NAB Part 1 Questions relate to Stages 1,2 and 3 of Cycle of Analysis. It relates to observing and analysing you performance to identify strengths and weaknesses and determine development needs.

Appropriateness All 5 schedules are appropriate for the following reasons 1. Relevant to badminton 2. Provide factual information 3. Provide statistics (scatter graph) 4. Specific to your performance 5. Can be reused 6. Can be kept as a permanent record 7. Can repeat and compare

Strengths and Weaknesses - initial Task - Look through each of your consideration of quality schedules and identify 2 – 3 strengths and 2 – 3 weaknesses. Explain why your strengths will have a positive affect on your game and why your weaknesses will have a negative affect on your game

Strengths and Weaknesses - focused Task - Look through each of your focused data schedules and identify 2 – 3 strengths and 2 – 3 weaknesses. Explain why your strengths will have a positive affect on your game and why your weaknesses will have a negative affect on your game – use information from knowledge of results and scatter graph to back up what you say.

Development Needs This is where you discuss why you want to improve a specific shot and what affect improving will have on your overall game.

NAB Part 1 This must be completed to a high standard. Use the help sheets to assist you Write your answers on lined A4 paper Part 1 must be completed by Tuesday 9 th November Period 1
