3 Explain the challenges you may face when gathering reliable data on your two selected factors.
Up to 3 marks available. Reasons may include:  reliability  validity  practicability  appropriateness of method  organisational issues Portfolio unit 2 (a)

4 Task 1 Look over your gathering data booklet
Select one method you have used to collect data on a physical factor Describe the challenges you faced when gathering data using this method Now do the same for another factor (emotional or mental) Was there anything that proved a problem? Remember….was it valid, reliable, practical, appropriate? Task 1

I played a full court/half court/full pitch/7-a-side game I played a game to 21 pts/11pts/10min game etc I played someone/team of similar ability I used my skills checklist/scatter graph to record my game The person who was observing my performance marked my different shots with a tick or cross. The person marked on a picture of a court/pitch where I moved on the pitch/where I moved my opponent and where I scored the point I answered a set of questions on anxiety after performing my routine. The person who was observing me put a tally mark under the heading every time I lost my temper/did something right/wrong/completed a skill/movement Select one of the methods identified in 2b. Gathering data methods What is good about this method? Select 3 of the most important points = 3marks 1.Results were taken down in a match situation, giving a true reflection of a game performance under pressure. 2.Helps identify my mental or emotional strengths and weaknesses 3.Data was easy to read and interpret as the ticks gave a picture of my strengths and weaknesses and what shots I was using/avoiding in a game 4. Helps track my movements/or where I was moving my opponent in the game giving me a clear picture of my game play on the court/pitch 5.Using written evidence gives us data we can use in the future to compare to see if improvements can be made. 6. It is simple to complete as it can be carried out quickly and easily 7. It can be compared to national averages to see how my fitness compares to the rest of the nation at my age level, giving me an accurate measurement of my fitness level. 8. It was reliable as I used the pause, rewind function to ensure I didn’t miss any data. 9. It was reliable as it got completed in real time as it happened by an experienced player who knew how to fill it in. 10. It was valid as it was specific to my performance needs and ability level 11.
