Q 2.1: PRODUCE A PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN WITH IDENTIFIABLE TARGETS YOU THINK WILL HELP YOU IMPROVE YOUR PERFORMANCE FOR TWO DIFFERENT FACTORS IMPACTING ON PERFORMANCE. (4 MARKS) The key word here is plan – this should be an overview of what you are trying to achieve and how you intend on doing it. Targets should be specific i.e. a score in a questionnaire and not just ‘I want to improve my concentration’. SMARTER targets were used to help create your PDP – let this guide your answer too! Key info required – time frame and number of sessions, approaches to development used. At least one description / example of an approach to development required – reasons why. 2:2 mark split.

Q 2.2:YOU MUST RECORD AND MONITOR YOUR PROGRESS DURING YOUR DEVELOPMENT SESSIONS. DESCRIBE TWO METHODS YOU USED TO MONITOR YOUR PROGRESS AND GIVE REASONS WHY YOU CHOSE EACH METHOD. (4 MARKS) Methods could be selected from: training diary, data collection (specific), feedback (specific). Each method requires at least two reasons for why you used them. Reasons could be: ease of use, validity, reliability, repeatability, specificity, or any other appropriate feature. You must explain why these reasons are beneficial to you. ‘It’s easy to do and you can repeat it many times’ will not suffice. Your answer must relate to your performance. Example intro: A training diary is a reliable way to monitor my progress because…

Q 2.3: TO PASS THIS QUESTION YOU MUST PROVIDE EVIDENCE OF YOU CARRYING OUT YOUR PERFORMANCE DEVELOPMENT PLAN. Evidence comes in the form of: 1) Data gathering for both factors identified 2) Completed training diary for both factors identified. Your evidence must relate and reflect the answers you have been giving throughout Unit 2. Your data collection and especially training diary must make sense and show progression. Your are working towards one specific target and your training diary should reflect that in the adaptations/changes you made. A minimum of three sessions should be included.

Q 2.4: EVALUATE THE EFFECTIVENESS OF YOUR PERFORMANCE DEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR EACH FACTOR. PLEASE MAKE REFERENCE TO HOW SUCCESSFUL YOUR MONITORING METHODS WERE. (4 MARKS) 2:2 split. Was your PDP successful? Why? How did you know? - You can evaluate approaches that didn’t work, providing you also give an explanation why. Were your monitoring methods successful? How did they aid your progress? Evidence? My performance development plan was successful as my results showed…this impacted on my performance as I can now… The approach that helped me the most/least was…as this… My monitoring method of using a training diary was particularly successful as it allowed me to…

Q 2.5: DESCRIBE TWO FUTURE DEVELOPMENT NEEDS. THESE MUST COME FROM DIFFERENT FACTORS. (4 MARKS) HOW DO YOU KNOW YOU NEED TO IMPROVE THIS AREA AND HOW WILL THIS BENEFIT YOUR PERFORMANCE? 2:2 split. Your response has to be based on data collection / monitoring methods. Examples should be given. You must state how this future development need will benefit your performance. Why is it worth pursuing? More than one future development need can be identified for both factors. Try not to be vague. Simply stating ‘I need to improve my motivation as this will help me perform better’ will not suffice.

REMEMBER: MARKS AT HIGHER ARE ALWAYS FOUND IN THE HOW & WHY. DEMONSTRATE YOUR UNDERSTANDING Make a statement / suggestion State the IMPACT on performance EXAMPLE Get to the point!

RE-SIT DATE: WEDNESDAY 10 TH FEBRUARY PLEASE NOTE THAT SOME QUESTIONS WILL HAVE BEEN ALTERED SLIGHTLY TO HELP YOU GAIN MORE MARKS
