M. R. PERIOD 2 raccoon

Habitat  Raccoons are just about found everywhere because they eat just about everything. These mammals are found in forest, marshes, prairies, cities. suburbs. And even a few small tropical islands. They make their homes out of nest from large birds, and large buildings. The kits are born in hollow trees, caves, brush piles, or rock crevice.

Diet  Raccoons snare a lot of their foods in water crayfish, frogs, and also aquatic creatures. They pluck mice and raid big birds nest to get tasty eggs. Young raccoons are often eaten by wolves, bobcats, water moccasins, and mountain lions. Raccoons also eat a lot of nuts and berries.

Additional information  A raccoons average weight is 14-24Ibs.But it can grow up to 40Ibs.Usually a raccoon can get up to inches. Raccoons can live up to 6 years. Raccoons are nocturnal which means they are asleep during the day and awake at night. They have black patches around their eyes that look like masks, a bushy black tails, and a pointed snout. Raccoons make a variety of sounds, including purrs, whimpers, snarls, growls, hisses, screams, and whinnies. They can also carry diseases like rabies, and the Distemper virus. On rare occasions raccoons can be albino. Male raccoons have no part in taking care of their young.

Why the raccoon is important in the story My Side of the Mountain  The raccoon is important in the story because he helps Sam find food like mussels. The raccoon in the story is names Jesse Coon James. Also the raccoons are important because a lot of them came to Sam’s party and made a mess in his house.
