CBE’s Google Apps For Education Site: A Virtual Tour A ‘Reach For the Clouds Instructional Series’ Production By Rosemary Buck

CBE’s Google Apps For Education As a Technology Instructional Learning Leader I have been asked on numerous occasions to provide information regarding the Calgary Board of Education’s (CBE’s) Google Apps For Education (GAFE) site. Although most educators and students are familiar with a few aspects of the site such as Gmail, most are not fully aware of the site in it’s entirety. Both educators and students have expressed an interest to become more informed as to what the site can provide as a tool for learning and how to use the various components of the site. The goal of this virtual tour is to provide learners with a brief introduction and overview of what CBE’s GAFE productivity tool site is. The goal is also to convey how this technology can be integrated, by both educators and students, to facilitate more meaningful teaching and learning. This approach has the power, and potential, to allow for more engaged, authentic, and student-centered environments which promotes students’ in developing and refining 21 st century competencies such as creating, innovating, researching, communicating, collaborating, decision-making, analyzing, synthesizing, and problem solving.
