ACER C720 Why use Chromebook technology? 1.Cost effective - Google for Education is free. 2.Enables ICS to purchase Chromebooks through fundraising efforts for students in grades 4-8 by September 2015. 3.Develops skills needed for the future. 4.Teachers are able to provide real-time feedback to students.

5 1.Pilot groups (Grades 5 and 7)will receive a Google Apps for Education account. 2.Students will NOT have access to email application, nor will the username work like an email address. 3.Students will be able to access their account from any Chromebook in the school as well as from other devices.  Professional development training will be ongoing in order to achieve seamless integration in the curriculum.

Use the Google CHROME BROWSER (which is free to download from the Internet) on a home computer. 5.Students are held accountable to the school's Acceptable Use Policy for this school-issued account. 6.Students will receive instruction on how to use Google Chromebooks and Google Drive. 7.Use of technology is a privilege and not a right. Students are expected to exhibit digital responsibility while using technology. Failure to abide by the Acceptable Use Policy or damage of a Chromebook will result in loss of privileges and replacement of device.

10  Chrome Book program and the Google Apps for education at our school.  Students’ excitement about Chromebooks in class. They cannot wait to start using them.  Using Google apps in the classroom.

11 Google Docs, Sheets and Slides Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides are productivity apps that let you create different kinds of online documents, work on them in real-time with other people, and store them in your Google Drive online.

12 Google Docs  Google Docs - word processor: create, format text documents, and collaborate  Invite students to collaborate on a document by giving them edit, comment, or view access.  Teacher can view a student’s document revision history and roll back to any previous version.  Facilitate writing as a process by encouraging students to write in real-time and also by providing help and insight to them using the comments feature.

14 Google Sheets  Google Sheets is an online spreadsheet app that lets you create and format spreadsheets and simultaneously work with other people.  Chat in real time with others who are editing your spreadsheet.  Collaborate with others for data collection (i.e, fast food nutritional information, State facts, Historical data)  Teachers can use Spreadsheets to create quizzes and tests online.

16 Google Slides  Google Slides is an online presentation app that allows students to show work in a visual way.  Create group presentation and share.  No more passive watching of another student's PowerPoint, a presenter now shares the presentation. With a chat box open during the presentation and teacher monitoring, the whole class is involved in the presentation.  Insert images and videos into presentation.  Publish and embed presentations on a website.
