Bandwagon  Persuasive technique that invites you to join the crowd.  Everybody’s doing it!  Often uses weasel words

For Example: A friend convinces another friend to go to a party by saying, “Everyone is going to be there! You’ll be laughed at if you don’t go, too!”

Testimonial  Statement endorsing an idea/product by a prominent person.  Product can be inside or outside particular field.  Musical artists,  Sports giants,  Actors/actresses

Glittering Generalization Uses appealing words and images to sell the product. The message this commercial gives, through indirectly, is that if you buy the item, you will be using a wonderful product, and it will change your life. Examples:  This cosmetic will make you look younger  This car will give you status  This drink will make your life better

Positive feelings/desires are connected to a product Transfers positive feelings from something we know about to something we don’t.  Love/ Popularity  Fame  Wealth  Power  Attractiveness Transfer / Emotional Appeal

 Words or pictures that appeal to the your emotions.  They appeal to positive emotions like your desire for success.  They can also appeal to negative emotions like fear.
