Conserving water Brenna Risley Grade 6

Facts and Tips for Conserving Water. When you flush the toilet once 6 ½ gallons of water are used. A five minute shower takes gallons of water a 10 minute shower takes 40 gallons. If you water your trees heavier but less frequently you save water and make stronger roots. Water you grass only if it needs it, if you step on it and it springs back up u don’t need to water it but if you step on itg and it stays flat it needs to be watered. Only run your dishwasher and washing machine when they are full. THINK BEFORE IT GOES DOWN THE SINK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Information About my Experiment Hypothesis: I think…that I will save a lot of water if I use the water that comes out of the faucet when I am waiting for warm water to water the plants. Materials for my experiment= a jug Setup=I left a jug on my sink and when I was waiting for hot water I would use the cold water that came out to fill the jug and water my plants.

I COMPARED………… I compared my project with Samantha Rocap and we had similar results.

History THE HISTORY OF WATER!!!!!!!!!! Water is the most important compound on Earth’s surface. With out fresh water the word would not have survived this long. A long time ago people did not understand the importance of Fresh water so many died because thy drank salt water or unhealthy water. 70% of Earth is covered in water but only a small amount of that water is Fresh and drinkable.

I learned I learned that there are many ways to conserve water. You can conserve water in your bathroom your kitchen outside and many other places. I also learned that water shortages can become a big problem one day. If we do not do something about conserving water the human race may die out.

The 5 W’s Who; Everybody What; Water Where; Everywhere, homes, schools and much more. When: Humans waste water all the time.

Cause and Effect

Research Water is a chemical substance called H 2 O and it is vital to all living things. The Earth’s surface is made up of 70.9% of water. A water supply provides for many things such as for use in homes, in industries and irrigation. Also in municipalities such as putting out fires, for street cleaning, and for cleaning wastes to treatment facilities. Communities depend on a never ending process so they have to renew their water supplies.

Research The cycling of and conserving of water is very important because there is never any new water put in to the Earth. The portion of the world’s Fresh water that circulates is less than 1 percent. By the year 2025, water shortages are going to affect 1/3 of the world’s population to reduce this amount more or better water supply projects, water treatment, and water conservation needs to take place.

Research To avoid water shortages, both suppliers and users of water must reduce waste. We can collect storm water runoff to recharge aquifers. We can cover reservoirs to reduce evaporation. Also we can fix leaking pipes and service mains.

The End That concludes my power point on conservation I hope you enjoyed and got some new idea’s of how you can conserve water.
