1 WATER THE STORY OF A DROP

2 HOW IMPORTANT IS WATER? Water is essential for life, and it is present everywhere: Water covers 70% of our planet

3 60%/70% of our body is water

4 WHERE IS WATER? Think for a minute where you can find water. It isn’t too difficult. Here are some ideas:

5 When you have a shower When you go to the toilet When you wash the dishes When you are thirsty

6 When it rains In rivers and oceans In theme parks

7 Our plants and animals need water too

8 Water is so important that life can’t exist without it

9 Still we see so much of water wastage going around us
Let’s do one activity 2 students will collect the water from leaking tap or tap (washroom)which is not closed properly. Collect the amount of water for 1 minute in vessel provided. Measure the amount of water collected with the help of measuring cylinder. Keep the cylinder on flat surface and at eye level.

10 Students shared the result with the class.

12 1 min = 100ml of water 60 sec = 100ml of water 60
1 min = 100ml of water 60 sec = 100ml of water 60*60sec = 6000ml of water 1 hr = 6lits of water 24 hrs= 24lits of water 1 day = 24lits of water

13

14 Students explained the importance of water in our life

15 This activity is called
Water audit

16 Apart from wastage How we store and manipulate water How we use water How we can save water

17 SOME QUESTIONS ABOUT WATER
Is the amount of water we can use limited? Yes, it is. Only one percent is drinkable, and half of this drinkable water is found below the earth's surface Consequence: we must save water

18 All the water we have on earth is all the water we will ever have—we cannot make more. That means it is a non-renewable resource. How is that possible? the water cycle has recycled the water supply for billions of years. We use the same water that the dinosaurs used But, if we are not careful with water, some day we might run out of clean, fresh water.

19 It is important to save water, but it is also important to keep water clean.
How does water get dirty? Some ideas: Pet waste contains harmful bacteria that can wash into rivers, streams and lakes. Using pesticides or fertilizers in agriculture Factories and refineries emit polluting fluids that wash into rivers and lakes

20 To clean water, we have sewage treatment plants
When it is clean, it can be used again at home, in agriculture, in industry, etc. so the process starts again.

21 Uf. It’s not easy being a drop of water
Uf! It’s not easy being a drop of water. I travel a long way to get to you, in rain water through rivers and pipes under bridges or in bottles. Sometimes I take a rest in dams and oceans. Sometimes I get frozen, sometimes I become vapor, but it’s always fascinating.
