GCSE PE Year 9 Summer Project

Overview This project needs to be completed over the Summer before you start your GCSE PE course in September The Project will consist of 2 parts: Part 1 – Practical Performance in Sport Part 2 – Theory work in preparation for the examination

Part 1 – Practical Task As part of the practical assessments you are required to perform in 3 different sports. 1 must be a team sport 1 must be an individual sport 1 can be either a team or an individual sport

Continued….. Each sport will be marked out of marks are awarded for how you well you can perform skills from within that sport 15 marks are awarded for how you can play within a full game

The actual task Your job is to select one of the sports listed on the pervious slides and produce a video of yourself performing the skills required, this will be graded out of 10. The skills required for each sport can be found in the following place – education/gcse/physical-education- 8582/introduction (called the specification) education/gcse/physical-education- 8582/introduction There is also a copy of it on the school website An example is on the next slide….

The video should be brought to your first GCSE lesson on a memory stick It needs to clearly show you performing the skills required It will then be assessed and you will be given a mark out of 10 Then within your practical lessons in year 10 you will be assessed in full games to get another mark out of 15 (giving you your total out of 25)

Part 2 – The theory work Within your lessons throughout year 9 you have been learning about different components of fitness you now need to complete a task that is related to these

Your task To watch 5 sports/ events from the Rio Olympics and then select the 3 most important components of fitness for that sport/ event There is an example of what we expect to see on the next slide
