Full Course - This course runs throughout Years 9, 10 and 11 during the options section of the timetable and is additional to core PE lessons.

3 Full Course PE Method of Assessment
Component 1 and 2 The theory of Physical Education = 60% Components 3 and 4 Practical sections = 40%.

4 Component 1 and 2 : The theory of Physical Education
60 % Components 1 and 2. Theory Papers. 60%. The theory of Physical Education: - Component 1 Fitness and Body Systems Written exam 1 hour and 45 minutes = 36% - Component 2 Health and Performance Written exam 1 hour and 15 minutes = 24% Both papers will include multiple- choice, short- answer and longer-answer questions.

Component 2: Health and Performance 24% of the qualification 70 marks ● Topic 1: Health, fitness and well-being ● Topic 2: Sport psychology ● Topic 3: Socio-cultural influences ● Topic 4: Use of data

7 Component 3 and 4 : Performance in Physical Education
This part of the course is worth 40% and is divided into two sections Component 3 : Practical performance = 30 % Component 4 : Analysis of performance = 10%

8 Component 3: Practical Performance
30% of the qualification 105 marks (35 marks per activity) Content overview ● Skills during individual and team activities ● General performance skills Assessment overview The assessment consists of students completing three physical activities from a set list. One must be a team activity. One must be an individual activity. The final activity can be a free choice.

10 Component 4: Personal Exercise Programme (PEP)
10% of the qualification 20 marks Content overview ● Aim and planning analysis ● Carrying out and monitoring the PEP ● Evaluation of the PEP Assessment overview The assessment consists of students producing a Personal Exercise Programme (PEP), and will require students to analyse and evaluate their performance.

11 Component 4: Personal Exercise Programme (PEP)
The PEP is a training plan to implement the strategies, practices, or tactics that will improve performance. It must be well designed (planned), performed (by the pupil), and monitored (recorded) over a six-week period. It must also show improvement in fitness levels. It must then be evaluated, with comments on how it benefited the student and suggestions on how to develop it further.

Tech National Diploma in Sports Science GNVQ in Leisure and Tourism The course develops the transferable skills and key skills that employers are looking for and can lead to a wide variety of employment opportunities. This can include further training in such areas as recreational management, leisure activities, coaching, officiating, the fitness industry, the armed forces and the Civil Service.

14 Sports Leaders Award The FitzWimarc Sports Leaders Award runs alongside the GCSE course, as an additional qualification. The course provides pupils with the opportunity to develop their leadership skills. Candidates will learn organisation, communication, motivation and teamwork skills. Volunteering in communities: candidates will be encouraged to help others interested in sport and recreational activities.
