The Views of the Center of Oakham Presented by: The students in Mrs. Johnson and Miss Miller’s classes.

In this area we see Wright Field and the Verizon building. Wright Field is used for playing soccer or baseball games. The Verizon building is used to get telephone service.. Wright Field is an area near the church so that when there is a game going on people who can’t find a parking spot can just park at the church.

We were looking from the top of Maple St. down to Coldbrook Rd. The buildings we saw were houses, the church, and the town hall. People live in the houses, the church is used for religious practices. The town hall is used for meetings, voting, and the senior center. The view’s purposes are recreation, a place to live, and a place to worship. The good layout features are that it is near the school, it is close to the center of town, the area makes it easy for walking, biking, or driving to the church or town hall, and every building has a yard around it. The bad layout features are: It is not easy to bike toward the common, it is not easily accessible because of the sharp corner, people cannot play in the road, and we are not in the main common area. This is different from Copley Square because the buildings in Copley Square touch each other, there are taller buildings, there are fewer trees in Copley Square, there’s a greater population in Copley Square, and in Copley Square they have no personal yard space. By: Bryan, Ryan M., Isaiah and Alex

This building is used for borrowing and reading books. The library is used for recreational purposes. The library is close to the church and the Town Hall. The area makes it easy for the people who live on Maple Street to walk to the library. It is not easy for people who live all the way across town to walk all the way to the library. By: Ben, Jenna, Tashia, and Morgan. We are looking at the Fobes Memorial Library.

1.The buildings we see are the Oakham Congregational Church, and a Cemetery. 2..This area is used as a place where religious People can worship, and to give dead People a place to rest. 3. The purpose this area serves is mostly for religious purposes. 4. The good layout points of this area are: it is near a common; this area makes it easy to relax; this area is close to a library. 5. The bad layouts of this area are that people will not be able to find a good parking spot, and the building is not easy to find because it has no sign. By: Kylie, Sean, Alexis, and Ryan K.

In our view we saw two houses to live in. One of the old houses we saw used to be the old Post Office. The two houses we saw were across the street from the library. We can see trees in front and in back of the houses. There is a roadway. In front of one house there are benches and grass. The town put the benches for people to sit on. The area is a place to relax and rest. People could have a picnic here. They could walk from the library to the benches and read a book. The disadvantages of the area is that there are no walkways for people to walk on. By: Kelsey, Ries, Jordan, Justin

The buildings we see in this area are a house, the library, and the Town Hall. This was part of Maple Street. The buildings are used for living in, for lending out books and videos, and town meetings. This area is good for getting to different places because there are roads going in different directions. So you can go to different places in the town of Oakham. This area is good for getting to the town hall and library. This area is a little cramped because the library is on one side of the street and the church (which is next to the Town Hall) and town hall are right across the street. This was the view Pat, Amel, Tim, Cody, and Dakota were looking at.

The buildings and areas we saw in our assigned area were the old post office, library, and houses. We could see the soccer field, and we could see the town common. The reason for these things are the soccer field and baseball field are for playing sports. The houses are for living in. The town common is for kids to play in the summer, picnics, find a book at the library and read and write at the common. the library is for getting books and videos. It is a good location because if you live on that street you are near a library, soccer field, and baseball field. Its also near the church. This could be a bad location because the houses are so close to the road on a busy street. By: Corey
