Latin Roots ver = ? 14. omni = ? 15. carn = ? 16. cord, cardi = ?

Latin Roots (Honors) Should Be Submitted31-35 Copy the new roots into your notebook as well. This homework assignment is due Friday. – 31. ven, vent = come – 32. annu, anni = year – 33. medi = middle – 34. semi = half – 35. uni = one

Feedback: Advocate Letters 4 Areas: – Introduction (¶ 1) Make sure to include the (long) argument statement we wrote and highlighted in your notebooks. – Logos, Pathos, and Ethos Be sure to build your ethos by referring to your sources in a tagline. – Counter-Argument (¶ 3) You did not address the opposite of your argument statement, which is the change you this is necessary. – Word Choice and Tone Not formal; no use of 2 nd person (“you”)

Feedback : Other Genres Key to Common Comments W.C. = revise word choice If a word is circled with a question mark, I didn’t understand the word. – “they” and “it” = unclear pronoun reference Don’t start a sentence with a number. Questions? Be sure to think about how all of your 3 genres plus your visual will work together to create your argument. – Do they make your point? – Are you missing anything?

Hypothetical Notes Hand-out for notebook from yesterday. Remember these 4+ paragraphs should be completed by this Friday. Answer the following 3 questions in your “Drafts of Writing” section for all 4+ genres (advocate letter, logos, pathos, visual, other). 1. Why did you choose this genre? 2. Where did the information in this genre come from? For example, are there direct quotations? For example, did you use someone else’s words? For example, did you synthesize information from multiple sources because the information overlapped? 3. What is factual, and what is imagined?

Work Time You may complete any of the following. Just use your time wisely because you should have all the pieces of your project complete by Friday! – Revise Advocate Letter – Revise Logos Genre – Revise Pathos Genre – Finish Hypothetical Notes (from Yesterday) – Create a New Genre for Your Project
