A business letter is a formal document written by people who work for a business or organization. Lesson 3: Use Word Tools Companies use business letters for many reasons, such as to pass along information or to gather market data.

Lesson 3: Use Word Tools An effective business letter should contain… A letterhead that contains the company’s contact information. Today’s date. The recipient’s name and address, also known as the inside address.
