WE ARE MOVING ON! How is Dual Enrollment Reshaping the First-Year Student?

WHAT IS MOVE ON WHEN READY? Senate Bill 132 became effective in July of 2015, establishing the new Move on When Ready (MOWR) program. This bill allows high school students (grades 9-12) to enroll at colleges/universities across Georgia to earn high school and college credit. MOWR covers 100% of tuition for approved courses and all mandatory non-course related fees. Students are only responsible for course fees and optional expenses.

FIRST-YEAR EXPERIENCE: ACCEL TO MOWR First-Year Experience serves as the academic home for two groups of students: 1) those who are dual-enrolled in high school and Georgia Southern; and 2) degree-seeking students who enter the university without a declared major. Promoting active major exploration from the point students are accepted into Georgia Southern, FYE helps them make informed decisions about their majors by the end of their first year as a degree-seeking student. GEORGIA SOUTHERN Current enrollment is over 220 students from more than 25 high schools Students can choose from over 125 approved courses Enrollment can be full-time or part-time Students must be at least 16 years old or a Junior or Senior in high school
