4 th Grade

 School Phone: (ext. 2403)  Home Phone: (Please use this phone number for emergencies only since it is a cell phone).  (I check my before school, during my lunch time, and after school. I will reply as promptly as possible.  Use “Remind” (if you’ve already subscribed).  If you would ever need to speak with me to discuss an issue concerning your child, or simply to hear affirmation that he/she is doing well, please call the school to schedule an appointment.

 “Remind” is one more way for communication to occur between home and school.  I can easily send out a text message to all parents at once.  My text message can be received using the Remind app (push notification), through , or via text message.  Your phone number will remain confidential.  See the home page of our class website for instructions regarding how you can subscribe.  Please let me know later if you have any difficulty signing up.

 Homework – Spelling, Math, Reading (Please see my web-site/first newsletter for more detailed information).  Planners – Planners are used to continue developing organizational skills. Also, planners serve as a good communication tool between home and school. Our “planner board manager” will write down all assignments that should be listed in student planners.  Parent Helpers – Parent helpers are welcomed and appreciated! Please watch Friday Folders for more information and to sign up to help with a specific area. Please be sure to check in at the booth.

 Snacks - Please send a healthy snack to school with your child each day. Please be aware that we have a student with SEVERE allergies in our classroom. (Refer to the letter that’s been distributed to your child’s desk).  Water Bottles – Water bottles will be sent home each afternoon to be washed. Make sure the bottles are clear. (This is a school-wide policy).  Birthday Celebrations – Please try to let me know at least 24 hours in advance if you’d like to send a treat for your child’s birthday. Store-bought treats are encouraged.

 Class Jobs – Classroom jobs allow students to have an active role in maintaining the classroom and feel an ownership. Students’ jobs will rotate every four weeks.  Classroom procedures will be determined by the students during the first few days of school. You will be notified of what procedures were decided upon.  Newsletters – Class newsletters are sent every Friday. If you have children in lower grade levels, you will only receive one school-wide newsletter, which your fourth grader will bring home. Friday newsletters will also be posted on my website.

 Parent/Teacher Conference Sign-Up - If you sign up for conferences now, you will still receive a reminder of your conference time as it gets closer. The sooner you sign up, the better your chances of getting a preferred time (first come, first served). You can find more information about parent/teacher conference sign-up on the school’s website.  Bus or Transportation Questions – If you have any bus and/or transportation questions, please see Mrs. Hullinger before leaving tonight.  Please let the office know if you need further assistance navigating our school’s website.

 Morning Work 8:05-8:25  Math 8:25-9:35  Writing 9:45 – 10:45  Reading 10:45 – 11:15  Specials 11:15 – 12:15  Lunch 12:20 – 12:45  Recess 12:45 – 1:15  Reading 1:15 – 2:15  Recess 2:15 – 2:30  WILD Time 2:35 – 3:00

 Please take the notepads titled “A Note to School” home with you. You may use them as desired. Also, the notice regarding our student’s allergy may be kept at home as a reference.  Please be sure that your child has filled out the index card with his/her first and last name and address. I think they’ll be glad they did! (Also, I will use the names on the index cards to check for any name corrections that need to be made).  Please leave the “Parent Contact Form” on your child’s desk.

Please visit my website often at: Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you think of a question later on. I am here to help you and your child have a wonderful fourth grade experience! Thank you for coming this evening!
