Domestic load  Domestic load includes residential load such as lighting, fan, heater, lift, TV set, electrical motor etc. Commercial load  The load required for shop, business establishments and hospital. The commercial load consists of lighting, fans, lifts for building, air conditioner, display board etc.

Industrial load  The industrial load can be following types : 1) Cottage industries 2) Small scale industries 3) Medium scale industries 4) Large scale industries

Agricultural load  The rural irrigation in India depends on ground water pumping and lifting water from tanks or canal. For these type of load submersible pump which require 3-phase induction motor are used.

Estimation of load  The following factor are used in load estimation. 1) Demand factor 2) Load factor 3) Diversity factor

Demand factor = Maximum demand / Connection load It is always less then 1. Connected load Sum of all the loads connected to the electrical system, usually expressed in watts. Maximum demand It is the greatest demand of load on the system during a given period.

Load factor  ratio of the average demand to the maximum demand over a defined interval.  Load factor is always less then 1,because average load is smaller then maximum demand.  Average load  The average of load occurring on the system in a given period is known as average load.
