Your end product may be counted as a Formal grade or informal – I have not decided. Many will likely end up on the bulletin board outside the room. Some inside the room. Some will be presented. Ensure this product has a consistent and professional and fun appearance. There are 10 steps, so that is 10 points per step when each is well done. READ CLOSELY. FOLLOW DIRECTIONS. READ MORE THAN ONCE!! NOTE: You will have 7 slides: 1 slide - cover/intro page slide (done at the end). (Step 9) 1 slide – People Data Things Ideas Chart – with yes/no answers. (Step 2) 1 slide - with 4 Categories (People/Data/Things/Ideas) with “Main Interest Areas Identified. (Step 3) 1 slide – List of 3 Interest Area Occupations and screen Print Occupations Map. (Step 4) 3 slides of your top 3 Interest Area Occupations. (Step 5)

ECD 1.01 Interests Section Interest Areas – What Do With? Presentation Development ECD 1.01 Interests Interests – Our interests include hobbies and activities, things we are kind of “interested” in doing more so than other things. There are four main categories of interests. We can use our interests in these categories to help identify college degrees and potential careers that may be a good fit for us! The four main categories of interests are: People – Interest in doing stuff with people Data – Interest in numbers, categorizing, making lists Things– Interest in making, building, repairing things. Ideas– Interest in creative things or creating things.

Step 1) Answer the questions on the following slide. Place a yes or no in the box to the right of each question. There are questions in each of the 4 quadrants. Top Left = People has 8 questions. Top Right = Data has 7 questions. See notes below... Bottom Left = Things has 7 questions. Bottom Right = Ideas has 7 questions. Go ahead and answer the questions on the next slide! ………………………………………………………………………………… NOTE: In the top right Data category… Data- Numbers, categorizing, list …be a treasurer of a club? (The treasurer keeps track of all the money that comes in and goes out and reports all of this to the club members) …work with numbers/statistics? (This means to use math to make predictions about what may happen) …balance a bank statement? (This means to take the report the bank provides to you each month about how much money thy think you put into and taken out of the bank and be sure this matches your records of what you put in and took out)

P EOPLE, D ATA, T HINGS, I DEAS – I NTEREST I NVENTORY People - doing stuff with peopleYes/NoData- Numbers, categorizing, listYes/No Do you or would you like to: entertain a child? research a topic of interest to you? listen to a friend’s personal problems? be a treasurer of a club? teach someone how to do something? do scientific experiments? help someone who is sick? work with numbers/statistics? lead a group or club activity? figure a car’s gas mileage? work with the public? balance a bank statement? run for an office? write a computer program? sell a product? Things – Making, building, hands onYes/NoIdeas - CreativityYes/No Do you or would you like to: bake a cake? decorate a room? repair cars/machinery? write a poem or story? sew or make crafts? publish a school yearbook or newspaper? build something from wood? write lyrics or a rap? operate a cash register or calculator? paint, draw, or watercolor? do landscaping/lawn care? play a musical instrument? operate a camera or video equipment? invent a new product?

On your keyboard, hold down control key (lower left on keyboard) then press print screen key (top right area on keyboard). Go to Google Slide, press “Ctrl and V” to paste the picture.
