1 Unit 1 – Improving Productivity Instructions ~ 100 words per box

2 1.1Why did you use a computer? What other systems / resources could you have used? you could use a White boards to present it but if you have a white board people at the back of the theatre might not be able to see it. Leaf-lets are good to present but they can cost a lot of money and they can easily be ripped. Verbal presentation the bad thing about it is it can be boring they might not be able to hear you and may not remember what to say. Videos you could record your self and then project it onto the white board the video presentation can be used over and over again with out the presenters being there.

3 1.2What skills did you need to learn in order to use PowerPoint? In order to learn how to use PowerPoint I had to develop the following skills ICT SKILLS I have been using PowerPoint since I was young so I know how to use the basic features when I started the PowerPoint unit I had to learn how to use the advanced features such as slide master and custom animation. Organisational skill I made sure my work was organised by creating a good folder structure I also named my files appropriately so I knew were my work is. Time management skills- I made my time well so I finished it on time and I did extra work because everyone went away so I had one to one help and put effort into it. Creativity skills- being able to design something that looks good.

4 1.2What resources did you need to make the presentation successful? I used videos because it will keep the audience interested so they just don’t have to read on every slide. I would use pictures to show the audience what we have in the school and what grades the school normally get so they have a good idea if the school get good grades or not. Also I would use the school website to get all the correct information and what the rules are. And it will tell you about the uniform you will need to wear also it will let you go around the school so you no how big it is and so you know where everything is.

5 1.4What factors might have affected how well you completed the presentation? (e.g. time / attendance / knowledge of software) In lessons when I was doing the presentation I could have been distracted and started listening to music this means I needed to catch up and work harder at the end of the deadline to get the work finished so I made it more hard work for my self. My attendance is really good so it didn't really have an effect on me because I did not have any time off. If I had time of I would not of been able to finish the work in the time which means I could of failed the unit. Another factor that helped me do the presentation that it was on PowerPoint and I knew how to use PowerPoint because I have been using it since primary school so I only didn't know what to do with the advanced things.

6 1.6Why did you use PowerPoint to make your presentation? What other software was available? Why did you choose not to use them? I used PowerPoint because its on the school system and you do not have to pay for it and I have used it for most of my life so its just natural to me so I don’t need to work out how to use it. And I used PowerPoint because you need to use slides and PowerPoint is the best software to do slides. There was other software's to use like Prezi and Match ware mediator but the school would have had to pay for those so we used PowerPoint as it is a good enough PowerPoint.

7 2.2Which tools within PowerPoint made it appropriate for your presentation? The tools I used was: Design with the design I used the backgrounds so it went with the colour of the writing to make the writing stands out Transitions I used transitions effects because it makes it look good and grabs their attention for how the righting goes on and of the screen. Animations I used animations because younger kids like them it keeps them occupied and engaged so they enjoy it. Slide show I used slide show because I put timings in so its doing it without anyone clicking anything.

8 1.7Were there any legal constraints or local constraints that changed the way you created your presentation? (e.g. copyright, file sizes, AUP) when I got Picture, animation and videos from the Internet, I made sure I put a reference from where I got them from’ I also got permission from staff and students before I used their photo graphs in my presentation. I followed all the school website rules I didn't go on any websites I was not meant to. Or illegally download anything of the inter net like pictures and videos.

9 2.4What improvements do you think you could do to your presentation? I would use different fonts because when you are about 10 years old it will draw their attention to the PowerPoint and it will keep them interested. More animations on slides it will make the slide more better for them. I would put the timer on more longer so they can read the most important information on the slides so they can understand what the school is about. I would of put more key information on the slides so they will know how the school is run and what kind of lessons they would have been doing.

10 3.2What improvements do you think you could have done to improve your work rate? (keyboard shortcuts, file names & locations, backups, work after school, templates, planning) I could of improved my work rate by not getting distracted in lessons, I could of done this by talking to my friends or playing games on the internet. I could have also named all my files appropriately. This would have enabled me to find my work a lot easier. To improve my work rate I should have come back after school. If I had planned my work better I would have completed all my task a lot quicker.
