Required by law Tells how to care for garment Must list fiber content

Sort by: – Color – Wash Cycle/Care label instructions ( hand wash or dry clean) – Water Temperature – Fabric weight and fiber content – How dirty clothes are (amount & kind of soil) **specialty items **Prevents damage to clothes

Prepare Clothes Close fasteners (zippers, snaps, buttons, etc.) Tie loose ends (drawstrings, etc.) Empty Pockets – Any stories??? Mend rips & tears Remove anything non-washable (belts, pins, etc.) Now…….. Can you think of any Laundry Products? What do you use at home? What commercials or ads have you seen?

Pre-Treat, Soap, and Detergent Choice : Treat Stains as soon as Possible Pre-Treat - means before you wash – -stain remover, whitener, odor remover

Detergents

Bleach – Use with caution – Chlorine - whites; Oxygen - colors Fabric Softeners – Sheets or liquids; controls static

Machine or Hand Wash Select Temperature – HOT – Disinfect, greasy items, white – WARM - reduces fading (compared to hot) – COLD - conserves energy, better for colors and prevents shrinking Select Cycle – How long and how vigorous

Machine Dry - select time and temp Dry Flat - prevents from stretching Hang Dry – use plastic hanger or clip hangers Air Fluff – unheated – freshens pillows Always…. Remove items immediately Clean lint filter EACH time
