Northwest Regional Development Agency Leads the economic development and regeneration of England's Northwest. As a business-led organisation, the NWDA provides a crucial link between the needs of business and Government policies. As such, a major responsibility for the Agency is to help create an environment in which businesses in the region can flourish through offering business support, encouraging new start-ups, matching skills provision to employer needs and bringing business investment into the region.

NW Digital & Creative Industries Significant Existing Cluster - The biggest focus of media and technology related industry outside of London High Growth Sector – faster than the UK economy as a whole and growing faster in NW than the comparable UK rate. Sector Value of £15.8bn - with 6 priority sub sectors: broadcast and digital media; videogames; digital technology and ICT; creative services; music; publishing. Catalyst for Growth - MediaCityUK is forecast to generate in excess of £1.5bn for the regional economy over 5 years

MediaCityUK Vision: MediaCityUK will become the largest purpose-built media community in Europe, providing opportunities for more than 1,000 businesses from the creative and digital industries to thrive in a shared environment, delivered by £3 billion of private investment  Public & Private Sector Collaboration  It’s happening now – £150 million has already been invested by Peel Media. Work on the initial 36-acre site began in 2007 after the BBC’s decision to commit to the development as an anchor tenant (the overall vision for the development covers 200 acres). In total, Peel will invest £500 million in the first phase, which will be open for business by 2011  Shared services model – MediaCityUK will provide a shared media services infrastructure and aims to aggregate demand from companies, providing significant benefits of scale and the ability to build sustainable business models for the creative sector.
