What is pre production? The definition of pre -production is about preparing within specific job titles within the film or television industry before the final broadcasting and editing takes place.(basically researching and planning before you start the production on a film or television) With the task that takes place before producing or broadcasting – for example each member of the production crew is allocated a specific job such as researchers they would find out the different locations that could fit in for each individual shot. My own view on what pre production is ? I believe pre production is about preparing everything for example knowing where the location will be ?,how will the story/ narrative fold out, what will it look like? Does the script work with the cast, director e.g.? Before the crew begins to go onto post production that is after the footage has been filmed and is ready to do the final creation of the film or tv program such as editing and adding in the finishing touches.

Jobs that are involved in pre- production. Tasks that are carried out- Props and wardrobe – costume designers - there job is to get the right fit for each individual person within the cast of the film and movie and to hopefully create the costumes to the right yearer and theme of this production. Stylists- these are people of which chose what type of shape suits each actor or actress. costumes/wardrobe. Prop maker they are the ones that start to create the different props that are involved within the set design. prop master they control what goes in and out of the materials to create the props and to make sure they will be available on time. Location searching- researcher, location scout, location manager

Jobs that are involved in pre- production. Special effects – art director – these are the people who create the vision that we have seen throughout the films or television program such as the set and the little details that the audience may notice time to time. audio visual technician – this is a job of where the operate certain pieces of equipment to create sound and visual images too. best boy – a best boy has the main role of being involved in the lighting and also has to make sure all of the equipment should arrive on that day and time when needed. graphic designers – this is to design the opening titles, caption and credits of where they have to research during pre production of the different fonts, backgrounds, colours they could use before post- production starts. motion graphics- researching the use of the typography and the design of how the title will appear on the screen. Production schedule – director of programming (mainly used in the television industry), production coordinator, project manager Final scan through the script to make sure each section and word is spelt correctly as well as in the right place. – script supervisor, screen writer

Jobs that are involved in pre- production. Run through the script to see if the cast, director, producer, assistant director e.g. is happy with the way the script is written. - screen writer Also creating a story board ready for the visuals and how each scene is going to jobs are involved within this is storyboard artists, story producer, story editor.

Production Production is the section within any type of media industry this is the middle process of where you use the storyboard you had created and plans. The production is the producing or creating of the footage that you shall be using its self.

Production – Jobs Best boy- use for lighting who runs in-between the office and company that hold the lights. Skills – organized, motivated, knowledge on lighting and effects, well on English, maths and ict. Actor – As I'm sure known a actor is the face of any product whether that through any type of visual media, who is used to bring the words from the script to life. – skills – being able to change into body shape or language for specific film roles, learn new lines quickly. Camera operator – a camera operator works with the director and the director of photography to. This type of job involves to operate the cameras as well as the equipment that comes with it. Make up and hair artist/assistant – understanding of characters and scenes.be organized (crucial),communication skills. Director of photography – This is a job in which creates the visuals of the film. Who works with the director, camera operators as well as the lighting department to. The reason for this is so then the camera will work with the lighting when in the production of creating Film. Skills needed- industry experience, be able to adapt to ideas straight away, knowledge about lighting, camera equipment, photography and the moving image, be able to communicate easily and direct or manage.

Post production The explanation of this is after all of the footage has been completed and add in the special effects, the main job editing it through cutting, speeding up duration, sound mixers, graphic designers, typographers.in my view there are a lot of jobs that are involved in post production than you may think.

Jobs within post production Typographer – These are the people who create and work with the graphic designers to produce the title and credits which they maybe creating new fonts to suit the type and theme of the film. Sound mixers – Work with the editor/assistant,director/assistant and producer to make sure all of the audio whether that’s music or speech it has to be mixed to make the film and the audio sync in together rather than the opposite. Editors/assistant – These are the most important people who combined the visuals and bring the all of the entire film together and stands between how well each shot was taken and edited. Who work with director, producer, director of photography, typographer, sound mixes, the list goes on and on.
