What is the PARCC? Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers The Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) is a group of states working together to develop a set of assessments that measure whether students are on track to be successful in college and their careers. These high quality, computer-based K–12 assessments in Mathematics and English Language Arts/Literacy give teachers, schools, students, and parents better information whether students are on track in their learning and for success after high school, and tools to help teachers customize learning to meet student needs.

Who is using the PARCC? 46 states and Washington D.C. have adopted the Common Core State Standards

What does a testing session look like? Classroom Morning Administered by teacher Teachers can help with tech if a student is struggling Teachers can clarify directions Students can review and change answers Computer will be “swapped out” if there is a problem Students can read or draw if finished early Classes who are not testing will have a regular morning

How will PARCC be Scored? Level 1: Not yet meeting grade-level expectations Level 2: Partially meeting grade-level expectations Level 3: Approaching grade-level expectations Level 4: Meeting grade-level expectations Level 5: Exceeding grade-level expectations Level 2: Partially meeting grade-level expectations

How will the scores be used? ● To assist teachers in supporting students ● To inform parents and students on progress towards “on track” college and career readiness ● TO inform schools and districts on curricula, instructional and professional development needs

PARCC Results will NOT: ● Impact student’s grades ● Be used to retain students ● As a measure of placement in various programs
