DEFINITION OF PLURAL: More than one

RULE FOR PLURALS: 1. Most nouns form plurals by adding –s to the end  Example= room, rooms 2. Nouns that end with “y” change the “y” to –ies  Example= cherry, cherries 3. Nouns that end with “vowel + y” end in “s” * Example= monkey, monkeys

MORE WITH PLURALS 4. Nouns that end with “fe” and “f” change the –ves  Examples= leaf, leaves and knife=knives *exception* words that end in “ff” as in “cliff” just add “s”- cliffs 5. Add –es to words that end in “ch”, “sh”, “ss”, “x” or “z”  Example=arch, arches  Example=clash, clashes  Example=class, classes  Example=box, boxes  Example=quiz, quizzes
