Menes Reign: about 3100 BC-3038BC First official pharaoh of Egypt. Ruled for about 62 years. He united the upper and lower kingdoms of Ancient Egypt. Temples were built during his reign to honor gods. Killed by a hippopotamus.

Djoser He ruled from about 2668 BC - 2649 BC. Had the first pyramid built. The first pyramid was called the Step Pyramid at Sakkara. . His administration developed the mining of turquoise and other precious stones.

KHUFU Reign: 2551-2528 B.C Khufu, or commonly known as Cheops. His greatest accomplishment--the construction of the largest pyramid. Ruled for approximately 23 years Highly structured society and he must have attained great wealth.

Khafra REIGN:2520-2494 BC DIED:2480 BC Over Khafra’s lifetime as a pharaoh he built the second largest pyramid of Giza. This pyramid was named “Khafra the Great” The Great Sphinx was built to look like him, probably to guard his tomb. His father was Khufu.

Amenhotep III REIGN:1526-1506 BC DIED:1504 BC When Amenhotep III was ruler of Egypt he made many statues. Just by looking at a few of them you could tell he liked Middle Kingdom styles. He ruled for 39 years of great prosperity. He brought Egypt to its peak power and peace. many structures were constructed that still stand today. Amenhotep III was known as the pharaoh that beautified Egypt. Queen Nerfertiti Amenhotep III

Hatshepsut REIGN:1479-1458BC DIED:1458 BC Hatshepsut was married to Thutmose II her brother. When he died she had to take care of Thutmose III, her stepson. He was not old enough to rule so she helped him by being his regent. By the time he became old enough to rule by himself, she had already named herself pharaoh. Wore a false beard. Most likely so people would obey her better. She had the appearance of a male pharaoh in order to be better respected as leader. 15 years after she had gotten the throne, she had mysteriously disappeared. It wasn't until 2007 that pharaoh Hatshepsut's mummy has been found in an undecorated tomb in Egypt's Valley of the Kings. Hatshepsut

Thutmose III REIGN:1479-1425 DIED:1425 BC Thutmose III was not old enough to rule when his father died, so Hatshepsut, his step-mother was his adviser. He later took back over his throne and destroyed a lot of Hatshepsut’s statues. Thutmose III turned Egypt into a great military force. He is said to be one of Egypt’s best pharaohs and was known for fighting wisely as well as spreading the empire.

Akhenaton IV Originally named Amenhotep IV. He changed his name in honor of the SunGod Aton. An Egyptian pharaoh (1380-1362 BC), Nefertiti was his wife. Most famous for: revising the Egyptian religious world by instituting a unique form of monotheism. Akhenaton believed there was only one god, Aton the sun god. He and his wife Nefertiti closed many of the temples to other gods. He was the father of the famous King Tut.

Tutankhamun “King Tut” REIGN:1336-1324 BC DIED:1323 BC at age 19 Tutankhamun(King Tut) was only 9 years old when he became pharaoh. Researchers are not positive how he died. Re-established the old polytheistic religion and restored all of the traditional deities. He moved the capital back to Thebes. Tutankhamun “King Tut” •He is well known because we found so many artifacts in his tomb that taught us about Egyptian life. He is probably the most famous Pharaoh.

Ramses II born in 1303 BC ruled from 1279 BC to 1213 BC “Ramses the Great” due to his great accomplishments and to his long reign over Egypt; his reign lasted over 60 years. He was known as warrior, great king, family man, and viewed as a god. He had many wives, over 100 children, and made the country wealthy by collecting riches and supplies from other empires. Due to his love of architecture, he had also created many memorials throughout Egypt. Some especially created for his first queen, Nefertari.

Cleopatra VII Cleopatra VII married Ptolomy XIII (her brother) REIGN:51-30 BC DIED:30 BC Cleopatra VII married Ptolomy XIII (her brother) There was a power struggle between Ptolomy and Cleopatra. He drowned “accidentally” so she then dated Julius Ceaser . When he died she later married Mark Anthony. (Roman also) Mark Anthony later he committed suicide. Cleopatra killed herself, it is said that she used a poisonous snake called an asp. She was a compassionate ruler and she also helped to boost Egypt’s economy. She had broken almost 300 years of the Ptolemaic rule that had been filled with rebellion, riots, and high taxes. She lowered taxes and people like her. Egypt came under Roman rule. So Cleopatra was the last Egyptian pharaoh of Egypt. Cleopatra VII
