Snow Routes All Roads have been evaluated by committee members. Total of 330 students affected throughout the county based on this year’s information. 3.6 % of our Ridership Population Prepared to begin to meet with Parent Advisory Committee Members and Transportation Employees to finalize the plan. Full Implementation scheduled for school year with School Board Approval.

eLink – Versatrans Routing Software Unveiled eLink to RCPS staff and public beginning second semester Allows school staff to access all route information for their school, print reports, and verify address and bus changes. Allows public to verify school district information by address. Prepared to pilot use by parents during the school year.

Driver Safety Training Exceeded required training time set by VDOE. ▫8 hours of driver training (Requirement is 4 hrs) Topics included: ▫Compartmentalization ▫Pre-Trips and Post-Trips ▫Defensive Driving ▫Seating Charts ▫Railroad Crossings ▫Two- Way Radio Use

Challenges facing our Department Fleet Age: 11.3 years old – State Average is 8.4 years old Technician to Bus Ratio: 32 to 1 – National Average is 21 to 1 Technician and Driver Salary Communication: 2 way radios are obsolete. Low-band frequency radio replacement is costly. Parts, Tires, and Fuel Cost Driver Recruitment and Retention

Spring 2012 Initiative for the Department Each employee was presented with two “I Make A Difference” wristbands. “Pay it Forward” Thanks to each and every one of our 363 employees who work as a team to transport our students to and from school each day. They truly make a difference.
