 Students will register for courses online through their Skyward access.  Course registration will open Thursday, March 5 and close Friday, March 20.  Once registration is complete, selected courses must be printed, parents must sign it, and it must be returned to the Guidance Office by Monday, March 23.

 When registering think about graduation requirements: English—4 credits Math—4 credits Social Studies—3 credits Science—2 credits Biology—1 credit Computer—.5 credit Health—.5 credit Physical Education—1.0 credits Electives—5.5 credits  Total—21.5 credits

 Students will need to get teacher approval to take Honors and AP courses.  Grades earned in Honors courses are weighted by  Grades earned in AP courses are weighted by  Students can also take college courses through Dual Enrollment at the Penn State Learning Center. Make a note on your registration sheet if you’re interested in this option.

 Beginning with the MCHS graduating class of 2012, students graduating with a cumulative NGA of % or higher (without rounding the decimal numbers) will be considered Honor Graduates.  Honor Graduates will be determined at the end of the 3 rd marking period and announced at a class meeting once grades are finalized.

 Students interested in playing sports at the collegiate level (Div. I or Div. II) will need to qualify with the NCAA Clearinghouse.  Students must qualify in three areas: core courses, test scores, and GPA.  For additional information, check or see your counselor.

 Seniors who have minimal credits to complete for graduation may participate in the Cooperative Education Program.  Cooperative Education gives students an opportunity to work in a career field they are interested in pursuing.  Students interested in Cooperative Education should indicate the interest on their course registration form.

The MCSD Program of Studies can be found on the district website ( Hard copies will only be provided to students if they request it this year since it is available online. Use this as a guide when choosing courses.

We will have Keystone remediation courses in place for next year. Student scores on Keystone exams will determine whether or not they must enroll in the remediation courses. Courses will be: Biology Test Prep Literature Test Prep Algebra Test Prep

IF a student score is basic or below basic in one of the three keystone subject areas, they will be placed in the remediation course. Elective credit will be given for the remediation course(s) and may require removing an elective course to schedule. Students – please indicate an elective that you are willing to give up – if we have to place you in a keystone remediation course.

 Take your time when selecting courses, but make sure you finish and turn in your signed printed list by Monday, March 23.  Carefully select electives that will suit you, challenge you, and benefit you later.  Involve your parents in this process. They could have some good advice.

Available Course area is a listing of courses available for selection. Click on the Course ID. The Class and Curriculum Information will be displayed.

Update Requests allows students to add or remove requests for next school year. 1. Click the Update Requests Tab 2. From the Course(s) Available pane, select a course and click the ADD COURSE button. 3. To Search for a specific course in the Course Available pane, use the SEARCH FILTER area. 4. To remove a course from the Course(s) Requested pane, click the course and then click REMOVE COURSE button

Alternate Requests are used if the requested courses cannot be scheduled. 1. Click the Alternates Tab 2. From the Alternate Course(s) Available pane, select a course and click the ADD COURSE button. 3. To Search for a specific course in the Course Available pane, use the SEARCH FILTER area. 4. To remove a course from the Alternate Course(s) Requested pane, click the course and then click REMOVE COURSE button. 5. To prioritize, click the course and then click the MOVE UP or MOVE DOWN button until the course appears in the ranking that you would like. Note: the course appearing first will be the one to be scheduled first

Selected is a listing of course requests and alternates to be used for the scheduling of next school year. Click the Selected Tab to view the Course Requests and Alternates that have been requested or scheduled.

When finished with selecting Course Recommendations and Alternates, click the LOGOUT button to exit Student Access. WHEN YOU ARE FINISHED SELECTING COURSES, BE SURE TO PRINT YOUR FINAL LIST! Note: You can update your request selections until the window has closed. After that time, you must contact your Guidance Counselor to make changes.
