UPK unit 6 witness testimony This document needs to be completed by a colleague(s) to enable you to demonstrate that you can do the criteria that is set out in the qualification specification. They need to be able to sign off that they have witnessed you completing/doing the required task/role and give a brief description of what it was you were doing to successfully accomplish that criteria. An example is given at the start of the document to help you to complete this with your mentor/colleagues.

Worksheet 1 This worksheet is focussed on the provision of physical education and physical activity for children in the area that you work (Charnwood/South Leicester/Melton/North West Leicestershire etc.) The description at the top of the worksheet gives you the required information to complete the worksheet. Examples of provision could be PE in schools, community sports clubs, referral clubs run by the NHS, disability clubs.

Worksheet 1.1 An evaluation requires you to explain the effectiveness of the provision in your area. Use the bullet points to help you to structure your evaluation. Remember that this is a written answer and it requires an introduction and conclusion.

Worksheet 1.2 & 1.3 These worksheets will allow you to explain the impact that physical activity has on the wellbeing of children and their attainment in education. They require you to do some research and also use your current knowledge and understanding. A clue to start you off on worksheet 1.2! Worksheets 2 and 2.1 Key stakeholders play an important part in the development of school sport, PE and physical activity. These stakeholders can be based within or outside of the school environment. Some may be big organisations and some may be small local people with invested interest in the development and delivery of this area. Some examples at a national level are Sport England, Youth Sport Trust, and the Association for PE (AfPE). At a local level stakeholders could be in the form of head teachers, school governors or School Games organisors.

You may have also had involvement in support children participate in clubs and societies in the community. Tip Use the bullet points on the worksheet to help you with this answer

Worksheets 4a and 4b There are a number of national policies that are focussed on sports development. Some are focussed on increasing participation, some on improving facilities and some have a range of objectives within the one policy. It is important to understand how policies effect you and your role at work, especially as a sports coach working with young people. By working out the key points to each policy highlighted in these tasks, you will then be able to explain how this policy affects you in your role at work.

Worksheet 5 Ofsted are a government agency and their school inspections are a requirement by law. They inspect schools in order to provide information to parents, promote improvement and to hold schools to account for the public money they receive. Ofsted provide an independent assessment of the quality and standards of education in schools, and check whether pupils are achieving as much as they can. You must find out what the expectations are from Ofsted and explain the standards that they assess to in regards to PE and school sport.
