It is your responsibility to lock up your belongings and coaches will not be held responsible for any items lost or stolen that should be locked up.

Practices MANDATORY!! MANDATORY!! MANDATORY!! 7 th Grade: – Practice in school on Red Days – Practice before school on White days 8 th Grade: – Practice in school on White Days – Practice before school on Red Days

Practices Missed Practices – Do not schedule appointments during practices – If injured, must still attend practice – Only school related activities are acceptable reasons (i.e. fine arts practices/performances) – Missing practice will result in a consequence the following morning. – Sickness with a doctor’s note is only excused reason for missing practice – Monthly menstruation is a valid excuse – Missing practice can result in a loss of game playing time!!!

Injuries Notify coach immediately if you are hurt or injured during a game or practice If you are NOT 100%, we do not want you to practice or play If you are injured, still required to attend practices and games

Transportation Travel to and from games/meets on the bus Must stay for ALL games/meets. Leaving early is NOT acceptable Need to be picked up within 15 minutes after home game conclude, or 15 minutes when bus arrives back to Thompson (consequences may be incurred for being picked up late).

Game Days Need to be present for entire athletic event Sit with team during game/meets No cell phones, iPods, etc. on benches No leaving the bench/waiting area during game or meets. No eating food or snacks (cannot leave to go to snack bars) Home games: cannot leave until gym is cleaned up and game equipment is put away

“Every time you stay out late; every time you sleep in; every time you miss a workout; every time you don’t give 100%… you make it that much easier for me to beat you.” -Unknown-

Focus & Effort Give 100% focus and effort at all times. Whether you are in the game or on the bench—pay attention and work hard. Whether at a game or practice listen to the coach at all times. You should develop an attitude practicing as hard as you play in a game. Try to improve each day. Have a positive and never quit attitude. Put the success of team above your personal achievements.

Classroom Grades Maintain passing grades – NO PASS, NO PLAY Tutorials are held in the morning, so attend if necessary

Discipline Consequences of detentions & ISCs will be handled by coach of in sport season Suspension from school is automatic removal from team Discipline record will be looked at prior to tryout of next in season sport – just because you are in off season does not give you a reason to misbehave!

"The more honor and respect among the players, the greater the team."

Respect Be respectful of all players, coaches, referees and parents at all time (on and off the courts). Do not question or talk back to coaches or referees. Negative comments, behavior or body language will not be tolerated. Give encouragement to your fellow teammates, and exemplify and demonstrate sportsmanship at all times. Language should always be respectful in tone and choice of words. Foul language or slang will not be tolerated in any form. We cheer for our team and teammates—not against our opponents.

Classroom Behavior Behaving in an unacceptable manner (disrespectful, goofing off, not working) reflects badly on yourself and your TEAM. Bad attitudes and foul language is not tolerated Physical or verbal fighting will be dealt accordingly, but can result in dismissal from team Automatic dismissal from team if you are caught under the influence of alcohol, tobacco, or drugs

"Sportsmanship for me is when a guy walks off the court and you really can't tell whether he won or lost, when he carries himself with pride either way.” -Jim Courier-

Parent Expectations Support – Come enjoy the games and be supportive sheering for all players to make them feel important. – Be positive and supportive whether the team loses or wins. Our focus is on playing to the best of our ability, which gives us the opportunity to win—when our best is better then the opponent’s best. – We cheer for our teams—not against our opponents Responsibility – Have your child at practice and games on time. All participants should be picked up from practices or games no more then fifteen minutes after its conclusion. – Be a positive role model. – Please help with transportation, snacks, etc. when needed with your child’s’ team, and you are available.

Parent Expectations Respect – Be respectful to all players, coaches and referees at all times. – Allow coaches to run the team—refrain from coaching from the sidelines. – Any questions for the coach should be addressed in an appropriate manner, not before or after the game and practice when emotions are high with both parties. An appointment may be set up to discuss any concerns. – Never use negative comments to players, coaches or referees. In times of adversity (close games, questionable calls by referees, poor team play…etc) our character and testimony are revealed and put to the test. Represent yourself, GAT, and above all Christ in an honoring and just way.
