1 WELCOME to Physical Education! Ms. Middleton Mr. Tiffany

2 Preperation Come prepared with –Lock –PE Uniform –Appropriate Tennis Shoes Students will enter through locker room doors, once you are changed, complete your “read and do” according to what teacher you have. You will NOT be allowed back in the locker room during class for ANY reason, it will be locked!

3 What do we wear? You may purchase a WLMS uniform this week either: –During extended homeroom, you must show your HR teacher your money. –During lunch (you must have a pass). –OR, after school.

4 What if I don’t want to buy? Acceptable attire: Gray or white t-shirt with NO print or graphics and blue or black shorts, NO EXEMPTIONS!

9 What are the consequences? 1st offense without proper attire (includes ENTIRE uniform which is shorts, shirt and shoes): Verbal Warning by teachers 2nd offense: Lunch Detention 3rd offense: Lunch Detention and a phone call home during detention 4th offense: Friday school 5th offense and after: Administrative Action

10 Alternate Assignment Will be completed if: –Student has inappropriate footwear. –Sick with an excused note from Doctor or Parent –Discipline/safety concern. –*This is not a choice but an expectation! If you refuse to do this, you will be removed from the class for insubordination.

11 Locker Room You have approximately 5 minutes to change, be EFFICIENT! Lockers will be assigned by PE teachers and students are NOT to change locker unless approved by the teacher. ALL students will have a locker regardless if you have a lock or not. You are required to bring in a lock from home.

12 Problems that can occur…. You forget your combination….how would you handle this? Give your combination to the teacher so we can write it down in confidence.

13 Responsibility You take your clothes out of your locker, and put them on the bench. You go to the bathroom, when you come back your clothes are MISSING, how do you handle this? Do not open your locker until you are ready to change, use the restroom when you enter OR change first and than go to the restroom.

14 Sharing Lockers You share your locker with your best friend, they happen to be absent and your PE clothes are in their locker. Your forgot the combination DON’T SHARE LOCKERS! Friends come and go, especially in middle school! The teacher is NOT permitted to give you another student’s combination, so DON’T ask. Bring in YOUR own lock, don’t share!

15 Locking your Locker You are in a rush to get out of the locker room, and you leave your locker open accidentally and you leave $5 in your pants pocket. You come in to change and your money is missing. Report to teacher, however, if your locker is not locked it is not the teacher’s responsibility and your money can not be reimbursed. This goes for any belongings that are not locked.

16 Grading 60% of grade is participation (attendance, punctuality, appropriate dress and effort) 20% is attitude development (sportsmanship, RESPECT) 10% is skill development 10% is knowledge (quizzes and tests)

17 Injuries & Medical Concerns If you get injured, LET US KNOW! If you don’t let us know, we cant help you! If your injured and miss two or more classes, YOU MUST bring in a letter from a parents or from a doctor In order to participate again, YOU MUST bring in a letter from a parent or a doctor

18 Sectionals You are required to change for P.E. in the beginning of class, regardless when you have your band sectional

19 Leaving Class YOU MUST ASK FIRST! YOU MUST have a pass or permission

20 GUM NO GUM If chewing, please spit it out before entering the gym If caught, we have gum cups If caught again, you WILL serve consequence

21 Participation You will be graded on a 16 point scale 16 = intense & vigorous participation, always on task, appropriately dressed and energetic and highly motivated 14 = consistently on task, self control, fair play, completes all tasks 12 = inconsistent, verbal prompts to stay on task, partially dressed
