Carl Jung

Carl as a “Jung”ster Born in Switzerland to Paul Jung (a pastor) and Emilie Preiswerk. Carl was the 4 th and only surviving child. Emilie was depressed and absent from the household. Carl grew a solitary life and was happiest when “left alone with his own thoughts”.

Early life… At 12, Jung began to have fainting spells and his parents feared he may have epilepsy. He developed a fascination with spirituality at a young age being raised in church. Studied at University of Basel. In early 20’s began to research the unconscious mind/ moved to Paris to study under Pierre Janet. Jung married Emma Rauschenbach in 1903 and were married 52 years until her death in 1955.

INTROVERT VS. EXTROVERT Introvert – More comfortable with the inner world of their thoughts and feelings. Extrovert – More social and aware of what is going on around them.

Concepts of Theory What is a concept? A general idea derived or inferred from specific instances or occurrences A general notion or idea The two big concepts that Carl Jung came up with Introvert and Extrovert How did he come to these two ideas
