IT LIVES IN … Tundra Taiga

SIZE AND FUR The females are 180 cm in length and weigh 100 kg The males are 200 cm in length and weigh 170 kg. In the summer fur is brownish or grayish- brown, in the winter - more light, sometimes white. The coat has two layers of fur: a dense undercoat and longer overcoat.

REINDEER EATS… In winter: lichen, buds of trees and shrubs. In the summer: the leaves of shrubs and plants, shoots of grass berries and mushrooms.

YOU CAN FOUND REINDEER… Many wild reideers live in Norway, Finland, Siberia, Greenland, Alaska, Canada.

FAWN The duration of the pregnancy is nearly 225 days. In May - June females give birth to 1 fawn. Females feed fawns with milk for months.

The lifetime of domestic reindeers is about 25 – 28 years, and the lifetime of wild reindeer is, probably, less. LIFETIME
